There is a fine line between "hobby and mental illness."

Interesting...double-track main entering a tunnel within the cranium. It's my understanding that tunnels are usually empty to accomodate potential traffic. I suspect that may be the case here also...:tb-wink:

I don't want to know what the southward track goes to.

It just proves that "Mental Illness" is no more than a Variable Threshold along the Enthusiasm line that other Enthusiasts refuse to reach.

Your limit may be to build a railroad throughout your whole house and the neighbor across the street only has a spare bedroom layout. He thinks you're a crazy finatic!

The neighbor with the bedroom layout shows his dinner guests the layout, and the guest's wife thinks to herself.. That guy's crazy, wasting a whole sewing room so he can play with his toys. She is NOT enthused! :D I am!

A practicing psychiatrist once explained to me that we're all a little crazy in one way or another. It only rises to the level of "mental illness" if the condition is severe enough to interfere with normal everyday function.

So unless your obsessive-compulsiveness about trains is getting in the way of making it to work, feeding your family, or personal hygeine, you're still just a "hobbyist".

Yes we are all a little nuts.I like tat's but even I ould balk at doing the one with double track main down my back! I am thinking about a tools of the trade one, lantern switch keys who knows. Might even get a steam loomotive.

I have heard Dr Will Miller ( comedian and shrink) say everyone has a varying level of inanity, ocd and psychosis.I fit the bill there lol.But I do like the story pray59 used. He saw a room for a layout, she saw a sewing room!
