    Thomas:

Well P&L is more or less of a 'nocturnal' railroad - running most of their freights at night. You might catch them working the yard or running an extra but that'll be about it for them. The bright side is that you can usually find the P&L enginehouse surrounded by power - usually GP38-2's (3800-series), GP40 (2101-2131), RdMates (2100-2120) along with GMTX leasers (usually GP38-2's and ex-Oakway SD60s). They also lease some CEFX SD90s but those typically stay in coal service between Madisonville and Louisville.

P&L runs alot of UP and BNSF coal trains to Calvert City and Grand Rivers to barge transloading facilities. Most daytime action will be these trains plus frequent BNSF ballast trains running to Grand Rivers for loading. Power for these: anything you can imagine - mainly six axle power for coal and a hodgepodge on the ballast extras.

    Hope that helps!

The shops you have pictures of are the old IC locomotive shops now owned by NRE out of Mount Vernon Il. While P&L is mostly nocturnal there is plenty of action on the P&I (CN, BNSF, P&L) going from Paducah to Metropolis IL.
