It's an GE EP-5 a electric locomotive loco used in the NE corridor and on the North Western electric corridor.
Ha-ha, take a closer look!. It`s actually a completely mythical kitbash. It looks close to an EP-5, but it`s also something else entirely.
It is definitely not a production model. So, it is somebody's attempt to build something similar to the EP-5. There are several projects like it, in the N-Cat archives. Almost everyone has Es, Fs, or other round nose diesels in their dead line. Building a could have been traction locomotive was very popular with the N-Cat crowd. Especially since the only American locomotive available was the Arnold GG-1. Most of the others sold here in the States were ConCor fantasy repaints of Japanese freight motors. It would not be out of the question to build an update of that loco out of two F59PHIs and a SD70mac chassis with some Somerfeldts on the roof. Maybe with two bodies and a chassis from a SD70mac and convert it to a full body.
That looks like C-Liner chassis, so it's a CE-5? Mark, that's a cute little Beep you have in there, but I'd hate to be the engineer who has to peddle that thing.
Hmm...Instead of a GP50/2 I think it would be something like a GP50-25...now if you made it twice as long would it be a GP50+50? lol.
Runaway caboose [A fun project is to remove the chassis from a caboose. Cut the end platforms off the chassis, glue them to the body. Now drop the body on a eight wheel chassis. Put it on your track, amaze your friends with the runaway caboose that goes uphill and can pull cars. ] :tb-biggrin:Should that not be called a "shoving platform"???:tb-biggrin:
I want to do one of those too I see what you're trying to go for, but there's no difference in the numerics between GP50-25 and GP50-25. One of them being your GP50 minus 25, and the other being GP50 dash 25, which would mean it's been overhauled throguh 25 differentt variations. Although, if they left a piece out each time the shopped it, that could explain why it's suddenly smaller.
A high-hood 44-tonner? Shouldn't it be painted in Southern Railway colors, since they liked their hi-hood diesels?
