All, Nansen Street Models, a Division of The N Scale Architect, is proud to announce the release of its Z scale Roundhouse Kit. More photos and info to follow Yours, John Bartolotto
All, Here is some more info and photos on our new roundhouse kit. The kit consists of laser cut basswood and laser cut peel and stick wood, laser cut tar paper and cast metal chimneys. Took me three nights to assemble, including painting the parts before assembling. The peel and stick laser cut parts make it go very quick since you do not have to wait for glue to dry. Doors are fixed in place. The roundhouse is designed for small to medium size Z scale locomotives using Marklin track and will work well with the Z scale turntable from Republic Locomotive Works https://www.republiclocomotiveworks.com/index.php You will need to shim up the base of the roundhouse to just below the ties if you desire to use Micro Trains Line’s Z scale Micro-Track sectional track in the roundhouse so that roundhouse doors will clear the track and the top of locomotives. All photos were taken using Marklin track and a MTL Steam Loco and MTL GP-9. You can turn it into a small brick roundhouse by laying printed brick sheets like the ones from Paper Creek Welcome to Paper Creek Model Works over the wooden walls prior to applying the peel and stick trim and windows. Many thanks to Jim O'Connell who tested our prototype and took the great photos of the MTL locos in and next to the roundhouse and thanks to Bruce Monroe of Monroe Models who did all the CAD work and laser cutting. Pricing and availability info to be released in the next few weeks. John
This is a great product and you can't go wrong in owning one. Also, I took these pictures using my tallest steamer, the MTL Mogul. All Marklin products will fit under the doorsill. I believe the GP's will fit inside. I just can't remember as I works on this project last Fall. I will check when I get mine in the mail shortly and report back on that. The Nn3 lumber Mogul, from Rebublic?, will not fit under the sill. Actually, looking at the photo of the GP9 it looks like it will fit in lengthwise. I will check for sure. Cheers, Jim CCRR
John, This kit looks great. Any chance of offering add-on bays (extras of the center bay) to make for or five stall versions? I have seen this in some larger scale kits, and think it is a great option. Dan S.
Hi Dan, John never mentioned that to me. However, buying extra kits and using the side walls would for other projects would work. I have no idea what the kit price will be, but buying extra kits is an answer. Yours is a good idea. We'll see what he says. Cheers, Jim CCRR
Another unique Z scale kit. I look forward to carrying this product, when it is ready. A great addition to the rest of the Nansen Street Products.
Dan - No plans right now for extra stall kits so for now you'll have to go with Jim's recommendation of just buying an extra kit. Anthony - Thanks! So as Russ and I set the pricing he will be in touch with you I am sure. John
