Just where are the McHenry's? They were supposed to be available in January, 2009.

NMRA - This IS Your WAKE-UP Call!

And that pretty much spells out my post, but to clarify it, here goes.

We have so much trouble with N-scale couplers because we have SO MANY N-SCALE COUPLER MANUFACTURERS!! Because there IS NO N-Scale Coupler STANDARD; there is an N-Scale Coupler Recommended Practice, which everyone dances around and more-or-less meets. or at any rate, that's how it feels; I don't really know which way NMRA is set, S or RP.
A bazillion different coupler configurations, 5-6 different manufacturers (plus the Rapido Cube-Hook), everyone SUPPOSEDLY compatible, but NONE of them really "plug-n-play" (most of them aren't even plug-n-PRAY!) installation, and like Grey One, my eyes and fingers don't get the conversions any longer.
It's time to call the Manufacturers AND the NMRA on the carpet; FIX the problem, give us a USER-FRIENDLY solution.

    I agree!

Let's use the NMRA for good, rather than ignoring it!

Not so far fetched. A type of this is being done in O scale. Some interesting developments that may someday carry over to N Scale. Locomotives are coming out with the option to uncouple on command.

I think it's safe to say: A simple and easy transition from any other coupler style to a knuckle coupler would be welcomed by most.

    My short list:

    1) No excessice "Slinky" action
    2) No exessive "sticking out"
