I just clicked on and navigated around the site linked without any problem. Am I missing something?

If they are still in business, as it appears to me, this sort of thread is exactly the sort that can heavily damage a retailer. It should be locked.

    What does

"No more Bloating and Gas - read about how I found relief from bloating and bloated stomach"

have to do with Model Railroading?

I suspect they may have overlooked renewing their website hosting subscription

Well, I would imagine that I would have a harder time enjoying model railroading were I a regular sufferer of bloating and bloated stomach.

Back to the original topic, I am not sure Hubert's has an active website. It might be worth calling them if you have a number.

If this is what you saw, that's not their website. I don't know all the conditions that lead ISPs do this (non-payment, not renewing on time etc..) and don't want to speculate as to Huberts disposition (even thought it's been said many time that they are defunct).

Remember that if you have old pages stored in your browser that what you may be seeing is not what is really out there on the web. With Internet Explorer it will sometimes load a cached page and not necessarily show you the latest and greatest. You have to make sure that IE is checking for new pages on every visit to the page.

I'm no moderator and my opinion doesn't count, but these kinds of posts are very damaging to companies if they aren't true. In this case it probably is true, but there have been at least a couple of incidents whereby manufacturers or hobby shops were tagged "out of business" when in fact they were not.

As in this case, Trainboard usually does nothing as long as they're not advertisers. :highfive:

It is interesting that the default 'search result' page that pops up gives you a link for Grandluxe Rail Tours who operation effective August 28, 2008. There is a lot of stuff out there still showing businesses who have gone out of business.

If I remember correctly the same thing happened with Kato's main Japanese website a while back so it doesn't necessarily mean a company's gone bust.
I think the original poster was asking a legitimate question after seeing the modern day equivalent of a store where he shops empty with the windows boarded up and wondering if the place is still in business. Trainboard is the obvious place to ask, if anyone knows, this is the place. Everyone naturally has obligations to their advertisers, when was the last time you read something critical of a manufacturer in Model Railroader. I think Trainboard is fair in this regard, they let us start to have our say and see where it starts to go.

I agree with the first half of this statement 100%. We need to not post things that could damage any company and we will not purposefully tolerate it at all.

I disagree with the second part 100%. We will not, under any circumstance allow any business to be bashed or for misinformation to be posted about them.

If Hubert's is out of business, I am sorry to hear that. I have some of their products and I like them.

Ok, Everyone! I would have never posted anything to bash another person's business. I posted a reply to the question that I was 100% positive was true.
I too liked their products (Hubert's/LBF/E&C shops)

Just didn't think there would be any harm in answering a question with a true statement.:tb-wacky:

I was told by a reliable source in the industry that they were out of business and the tooling was for sale.

I would be interested to know who, if anyone, bought the tooling. There were many fine cars produced from this tooling.

    Hubert's is GONE???

Hubert's as in the guys that do the rolling stock car sets? In the yellow boxes?
    (expletive deleted)!!!
Yeah, they made great cars. A little on the expensive side, but they were worth it!
If they're really gone, we're gonna miss them.

I've heard the rumors of Huberts' closing down, and it is unfortunate since their products were pretty good, if not a tad overpriced. They were supposedly made in the US, although again not something I heard from the horses mouth. If so the price gets a little slide in my book, but even at that they were competing for the high-end price point with middle-of-the-road quality tooling and I think that hurt them. They don't have the marketing machine that MTL does to get by with it.

To me their ace in the hole was their 60ft boxcars, and they just seemed to sit on that tooling. "More coalporters. WE NEED MORE COALPORTERS!!!!" ;-)

There has been a lot of talk about Hubert's/LBF/etc. in different model railroad circles in Oregon because, apparently, there have been some ownership disputes and other related matters. I have so far not gotten the straight story on anything having to do with that company, so I hesitate to make any comment concerning whether any entity is still in business or who seems to be making what cars.

If I find something out that has some backing evidence, I will post it here, unless I have some questions about its appropriateness, in which case I will run it by Charlie and the staff first.

I hate it when ISP's do this to websites, after they go away, or are taken down. it is Called "Domain Squatting" all they are doing is trying to take advantage of us. I would much rather jusy see a 404 error than links to a bunch of fly by night "sponsors"

as for Huberts, it is a sad loss if they are gone.
