The description: "Hi, this auction is going to be changed into a different item. Sorry for the confusion and I appreciate your understanding, thank you and have a great day!"

True, but I think the same auctions have been posted for a while. Why wouldn't the seller just cancel the existing listings?

What if it was a Lamborghini ?
You are selling or you are not. At least since I have been there since 1997.

Cool! I could use a couple kits of nothing, I need to scratchbuild an area of empty space.

Should be an award-winning model worthy of NMRA-AP points!

I could use some nothing in the factory box with factory air. Marvin the Martian needs some nothing for his space time continuum warp five ray. Nothingonium is a hard thing to come by.

It is a shame what Ebay sellers are doing to this hobby. Bad enough the manufacturers are having a rough time but these sellers who are driving up prices are going to hurt us all in the long run...
ATLAS VIADUCT- $22.50 plus $7.69 S&H..... I would laugh if it were not so annoying and so common. A year or more ago, I would have thought this price WAS humorous.... Now, just sad.
-Hoping nobody will pay this price.

That's the whole sum of the problem. Some uninformed persons are paying the price. Many thinking they've won the bidding war but don't realize they actually lost the battle. The only place I still find reasonable prices is the swap meets. Still the pricing going on is reflective of what is going on, on E-pay.

You can still find some deals. Watch for the hobby shops and some of the items they list. Particularly the "Buy Now". Lucky you if you find what you are looking for in such categories.

    Remember,

When you only "win" on eBay when you are willing to pay more than anyone else.

    Have fun, Mark

How about filing a complaint the original factory air is missing from the boxes? Or the seller sent the wrong emptiness? Or was misleading in describing the actual emptiness inside the boxes, as they were more empty than supposed to be? Or the emptiness was the wrong color? I've seen negs just as idiotic succeed. Yikes.

Out here in California, swap meets are the worst. The only ones that come around have 'professional' swap meet sellers that greatly inflate the prices (especially after paying for parking and admission). There's one seller that always comes to mind...he has a TON of N scale (mostly old 'vintage' junk) with giant prices and then 50% off signs all over the place. Whatever it is is still more than retail even after the 50% off. Rarely is there an individual selling excess trains from their collection and if there ever is, the pros usually come over before the show opens and buys the entire table (how do I know, because we are there with our NTrak modules setting up and we see it happening over and over). People coming to these shows are all too often lambs to slaughter.

I can honestly say that I have never bought anything off EBay for a lot of the reasons that have been reviewed here and most likely never will. Plus the place just got hacked recently and folks still do not know the who what and where of what may have been compromised. And I want none of that since I just went through that with Yahoo groups and found that my Email address was being used to send enough Spam out to feed a country the size of China. After a hours or two with my internet provider I was able to get control of it and stop it. As far as shopping at shows I do so with my wallet firmly seated in my pocket and my hand over it. I walk the entire show first to see what is there and the prices. And I have done my homework before and know what a fair price is thus I don't care how much I want something I will walk away from a high priced item that isn't reasonable. I do most of my shopping through well established dealers who have been around a long time and won't be gone one day after I make my purchase. I have found some excellent deals at some shows by just walking the show first and buying later.

    Negative Feedback

I sold a an Intermountain UP CA-3 caboose to a guy. I ship first class mail in a box like I always do. He gets in at 1:30PM. At 4:30PM he leaves me negative feedback saying,"Not as described. Product was not new and damaged. I expect some compensation." Never contacted me. I send him an E Mail through E Bay telling him I can't believe he left negative without contacting me and that it wasn't a real positive way to ask for a refund. I also told him the caboose was new in box when i sent it to him. I also asked him to send me photos of the broken caboose, the jewell case, and the box it was shipped in.
He paid $38.00 for the caboose. About $10.00 over list price.
Today he sends me an E Mail that says,"I'm not going to debate the situation. You refund the $10.00 and change the feedback to positive."

I believe he had some buyer remorse and wants $10.00. He didn't offer to return the caboose or send photos.

Smells like feedback extortion to me. I may call E Bay and ask them what they think.

Had he been nice and offered to work with me, I would have refunded his $10.00 and the $3.50 postage.

What a douchbag. I will block him as soon as this transaction is over.

    Opinions?

Kinda does have that odor. It might be worth a call. If that joker has a track record of such behavior, he could even find himself booted off. Unlikely, but possible.

I'd definitely take it to eBay and show them exactly what he said. Also, rebut the negative feedback in the feedback section.

I've done over 1000 transactions (buying and selling) and have had problems on maybe .5%. Why does one . . . jerk have to screw it up for thousands?
