Just wondering if anyone had an update on the NA scale models Mikado....Haven't heard much about it in a long while!

    Thanks,

I'm not sure what's going on. They were reported to be attending the NTS in LA this year, but I don't think they were there. I'm hoping they are just keeping things close to the breast and haven't hit some sort of financial snag.

I wonder myself. I hope they are still trying to make a go of it.

It was partly money but mainly getting a supplier to make what they wanted. There are only a few that can logistically make Z but when you can't get all of it in one place ....

It still could happen but certainly not this year. And I doubt late next year.

I still have total respect for someone who starts up what they want.

These are our primary concerns, but we have also undergone some administrative changes which are not complete. In addition, the current political/economical situation has put my family on alert (we get paid through NIH grants--funding that will depend on who gets elected), so I've put any manufacturing on hold for the moment while I write a business plan and we see if/how we can weather the current economic crisis.

That being said, yes, I am still going forward with the Mikado, it's just going very slowly at the moment. The more all of you are interested, the more I will continue and the much more likely you guyz will see product in the future. As I've said before, the Mikado is just the beginning...I have over 20 designs for more than just steam locos. We'll be looking into working industry dioramas that you can insert into your layouts, cabooses, period specific cars, SoundCar(tm), etc.

Ahh, good to know everything is still on track, Doc.... albeit, the slow track...

Are you at the U of U? I got my graduate degree there and moved out to UCSF after. In the same boat as you regarding NIH funding! Hopefully the powers that be will legislate in our favor!

Sorry to hear the problems with the new Business. Maybe it would be better if you guys are starting smaller and don't start with a Steamengine but with some Cars. This would allow some re-investment. BTW Tim allready have a lot of experience with Stackcars so this would not be a risk.

    Jurg,
I'm seriously thinking about that...maybe doing some early (Era I and II) NA cars and cabooses (caboosi?:biggrin2:) for steam-type first befoer continuing with the locos. Dunno...

The main issue manufacturing-wise on the locos is trying to find a injection-molder willing to do something "new" in the toy/model industry.
