Oh my gosh, its the weekend already. Here is an oldy from the files. And this is not Sugarland. That is a name some country musicians from Georgia came up with. This is the Sugar Land (two words) depot.
For once I am ahead of the curve..... Baseball season is almost over but it will last the winter on the HO layout... Still a lot of detail to do around the field. Two Preiser seated people packs picked up today will fill the bleachers. The outfield fence needs some posters on it and we still need to pick up a billboard kit to modify into a score board.
Still working on F units. These are Kato 1988 original run F3s. This AB set has been detailed and weathered. In fact, the B unit was an undec; I believe the undec B unit models were rare.
Nothing new from me, but I am working on decaling a customer's project. Here's some weekend railfanning from a couple weeks ago:
Russell & Skip, love what you have done. Jeff, the boxcar looks very good. Hemi, I wish I could get an engine to turn out nicely weathered like that :tb-biggrin: Flash, the F unit combo is looking good. The yard beyond looks rather involved and busy, too. For this week, an SW8 requiring brake servicing awaits entry to the back shop while a crew does a quick and minor repair to the tracks at the front entrance. This is near midnight.
Weird ? A cool baseball field, I like it! My project was replacing a throw bar. I had a PC board tie as throw bar. It worked without problems. But I replaced it with a PROTO:87 throw bar. Just for fun, for appearance. And the switch stand has a working target, of course. Weird ??? Wolfgang
Started working on a backdrop sample so I can get my colors right before I start the real McCoy. I have about 25 feet to paint and I only want to do it once. I got this far on the test piece and had to take a break. The plan "today" is to fade from a cloudy sky to a calm summer scene.
Started laying code 40 in the hidden staging area of my layout. This is the practice area so the center track isn't all that straight. For a first attempt at handlaid track I think I did pretty good.
Why would you hide code 40 track? That should be on a siding in view. Code 80 (bullet proof) should be hidden. Always keep the track thats hard to get to as perfect as possible.
WOW! That backdrop looks tremendous!...........The foreground looks awfully good too!...........nice work!
