We had a busy weekend. We had to do the grocery shopping. We also did some odd jobs around the house. We prepared for our vacation by sorting and packing things. Yesterday we spent a quiet Father’s Day. Our Internet and cable TV has been out at home since yesterday morning. Apparently someone cut a fiber-optic cable. No modeling this weekend. (I will be in Maine and New Hampshire for vacation this time next week so if anyone wants to start this topic please feel free to do so as I doubt I will have Internet access.)
Busy here also. I sent my wife on a mini-vacation so it was just the boys and I. I did manage to get my Climax running by borrowing a part from another engine. I ran the little bugger for several hours...just enjoying the sound and blowing the whistle!
I was able to get most of my 510' long steel trestle done for the layout. I is made from ME components with a kato truss kitbashed into it.
I didn't get much done. I finished up some benchwork that I wanted to get done. That is about it. I did ride 500 mile on my motorcycle though :tb-biggrin:
Does cleaning up the train room count? I put away a bunch of unfinished projects and all sorts of debris. Now I can see clearly and think again. Started planting and working on some background buildings.
I got home Sunday morning and spotted a new Vizio flat-screen TV where the old one used to be (cool!). I also read cards from each of the boys and my wife, and they got to me. At that point, what really matters to me once again came to the front (my family). Inasmuch as I enjoy this wonderful hobby, without the love of my family, I am nothing. But hey, I have another weekend coming, so it's all good. And the TV was cool- saw parts of the NASCAR race on it while eating a late breakfast.
Becnhwork Started I built benchwork for my new layout. It's an L-Girder, supported by wall brackets. I learned the techniques from Linn Westcott's How to Build Model Railroad Benchwork. Which is a great book and I highly recommend it. I left room underneath the benchwork, for my workbenches, and storage bins.
