Was happy to stumble on this today. So new the headlight's not even in yet. Sorry for the "foggy" picture. My camera's on it's last leg. I Bought a new one over the weekend and will use it from now on. Glad to see some new power on the DGNO. If you'd like to see more, see my railimages gallery for all angles of the newest baby ( http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/showgallery.php/cat/500/ppuser/2569 ). I feel like such a prowd daddy!
http://www.trainweb.org/gensets/gs14b.html It seems this is the first production GS14B. In that case, congratulations on catching it!
You are correct. UPY 2005 is classed as a 2GS14B also, though it doesn't conform with the current design. Likewise, NREX 2007, the 2GS14B demonstrator, is similar in design, but built on a second generation EMD geep of some sort. From what I understand, DGNO 140 and 141 are the first 2GS14B gensets to be built on new frames, similar to what NRE is doing with the 3GS21B 3-engine models. Fort Worth and Western is getting two also, units 1000 and 1001. They sent two old geeps in as cores, but I don't know if that was in trade, or if the frames will be used. Jody
That would be cool. FWWR's paint would look great on one of these. If you happen to get a picture, please post it.
I saw one of those in UP colors in the Arlington BOP yard yesterday. Did Texas pass some clean air legislation?
Yup. Texas has been using EPA grant money to buy its rail lines environmentally friendly switchers for several years now, going back to the MPI units on the PTRA. :cat:
