While exhibiting at the Great Trean Expo (GTE) in Sacramento this weekend, they did a live remote on CBS31. Fortunately they were only a few layots at this show and only a few volunteered to come in at 6 for the show (that's a.m.). Had to get up at 3 to make the drive, after getting home at 12 from the day before. Guess it was worth it This morning's live clips with Koula from CBS31: http://www.cbs13.com/video/?id=16151@kovr.dayport.com http://www.cbs13.com/video/?id=16154@kovr.dayport.com Rob Kluz, they shot a pan and super close up of my GOHONZ (all scales of F7 display, get it?) with the Ztrack magazine strategically placed in the background but I guess it didn't make the cut. Joe D'Amato: Jim had a ton of your track and turnouts there too but no competition compared to the Lionel and Circus layout Oh, and the volcano. :embarassed: Nothing like getting cut for a volcano. John Bartolotto: The camera man was flipping the Nansen Street Despatch station with all the detail, figures, freight and weathering plus the GOHONZ display. Too bad we didn't have Rob's version there. He'd bust a heart vessule if he saw that and we'd never be able to get Rob down off that laser beam. Feed from Ch 3 the day before: http://www.zcentralstation.com/downloads/VOLCANO_NEWS_3.MOV YEAH BABY !!!!
Publi"Z"ity Wow, that was a great clip! Making movie stars out of Z scale modelers! How cool is that! That volcano Rocks!!!! Hobo Tim
Sounds like you had a great time! Too bad I missed it... Can you save the news video clip to your hard drive?
Very Cool! I did the same 6:00am morning news show thing for NTS 2005 in Cinci, but Ben is much more photogenic than I am. ;-) Randy
My complain is who in the world is the cameramen. That video was so jumpy that it reminds me of my own. Hey, maybe I can be a professional cameramen.
I was thinking the same thing. I think it's a West Coast thing. Too much coffee I guess. ;-) John, once when I was on a trip to LA, i was watching the local news weather forecast and the weather girl (couldn't really call her a weather forecaster) was wearing an ultra mini-skirt and a tube top. For that, I would forgive them for being wrong half the time. ;-) Randy
We did one where we talked and then he panned to the running trains, pan overview and then zoomed in to follow the train but it not get posted. I had an NCE Cab in my hand when he zoomed in to watch me push buttons, Ztrack magazines in the immediate background behind the GOHONZ display, made him shoot that Despatch Station and Jim musta had a lot of MTL track with the wind up power going. It was sorta like he was looking at everything through the eyes of the lense and a kid in a candy store.
I figured out how to save that video in the top link. I was looking for a flash video, named .flv, but could not find any, so I went to the temp folder. and sorted files by size. I found fla.tmp was big, and when I closed the browser, it was deleted. I could not save it from the path below, where xxxxx is the login profile I am using: C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxx\Local Settings\Temp\fla.tmp Well since the file was deleted after I closed the browser, I went back to the video link and watched it again, then it re-appeared in the temp folder. I hit the reset button on my computer before closing the browser, then rebooted, and looked in the temp folder and the file was still there, so I copied it to the desktop, and renamed it .FLV then was able to play it with a flash video player. I downloaded Super, a format converter program, and converted it to a .mov file. Now I have it!
That IS AWESOME...................... BAZ on TV. I'll try to save the files too and post it on my website. That feels great. Kim
Rob to save the flash files in firefox Right-click on the web page; Select View Page Info; Switch to the "Media" tab; Select the Flash movie you want to save; Click Save As. Here the flash file type will show as Embed. Kim
Very cool. Congrats to the BAZ BoyZ. I'm surprised you got so much time. It was a pretty long segment considering... The layout was very impressive, not to mention the volcano. Nice job.
Anyone have any info on that micro-train they show? The one for $400? I'd like to learn a bit more about that. I'd find it hard to believe the train is just resting on the tracks, with him holding the layout in his hands. It must be fixed to the track, somehow. Anyone know any more about this set?
That is called TY Scale, and you can google it to get lots more info, but it is 1:900 scale, and there is a motor under the layout base that drives a belt around a pully. Attached to the belt is clear plastic sheet, and the trains are glued to that. In between the rails is a slit and the clear plastic comes up there. Here are a couple I took pictures of 5 years ago:
