I managed to get to the Plano Train show about 10:30 AM. I didn't get to see Mopman or NSL as planned. The weather was bad and a large ice storm in the Dallas area was unfolding when I was at the show. Inspite of the bad weather, the attendance at the show was great with lots of kids. There were plenty of local dealers plus high profile dealers such as Richmond Controls and George Hallowel. Had time to speak to Geeorge regarding his line of specialty cars of SP and ATSF that are in the pipeline for 2007. My only purchase at the show were tender wipers for the Bachmann 4-8-4 tender. I was looking for three sets of wipers but had to ettle for two sets. Another highlight of the show was my brief meeting with Doug Andresson who had a booth at the show. He was glad I stopped by to say hello. I'll post some photo's of some of the Layouts I saw when I return to Florida hopefully late Monday. The winter ice storm is supposed to last through early Monday morning. My flight back to West Palm Beach is scheduled to leave at 2:00 PM. Stay cool and run steam....
And now for some pics... Took a few snaps of the different layouts... if anyone wants the full size pics, PM me with your email addy
Thanks for the pics- looks like there were some folks who braved the weather. Looks like the Red River boys made it down- jeez, they'll let anyone show up.......
I have quite a few photo's of the TNT N scale layout that I'll post when I get back to Florida. The ice storm in Dallas is in full force and will continue tomorrow. I'm supposed to fly out of Dallas tomorrow at 2:00 PM. Hopefully the weather will change by then. Stay cool and run steam.....
The show was a success. I was only there for half the day Saturday but I was glad to have been able to meet MOPMAN and PSG before I left. Despite the weather, the show was very well attended, and even the layout tours got steady visitors. The roads really didn't get bad until late Sunday.
Sorry I missed N-S-L & PSG. The weather delayed my arrival by about 20 minutes. The turnout (no pun) was not as large as previous years due to the weather but was decent. I did run into some folks I had not seen in a while. One member of the Spring Creek group I had not seen since 1970 when we worked together at Sears Repair Center. Great to see that N-S-L & PSG got some pics of the show. Since I didn't have my tripod with me, mine looked horrible Hopefully I will have my layout on the tour next year and maybe have a better chance to meet more TB members.
Yes, seemed like a pretty good crowd on Saturday. At one point, it was shoulder-to-shoulder on one path I took while wandering around inside the big room. I saw a lot of merchandise trading hands, and I'm proud to say I scored a MOPAC caboose while at the show Sunday, from what I hear was pretty thin.
