I have been looking for ideas for Christmas and have been trying to find an EOT device for HO trains with no luck. Are there any EOT devices out on the market? If so, who makes the better ones?

Saw a review the other day of one made by this lot http://www.ringengineering.com/ . It is supplied with a truck to replace the one under your rear car, so it is track powered.

I've considered ordering a couple of the Ring Engineering EOTs, but just haven't got around to it. Has anyone here tried them?

I used one a couple years ago. It was alright and did the job but the over all size of it was a bit out of scale. Here's a site to what i use now. http://www.richmondcontrols.com/ Now Richmond doesn't say who their supplier of FRED's is but if you want to know just so you can see a picture here https://secure.bluehost.com/~sunrisen/hopics/hs50.jpg
and for other detailing part's https://secure.bluehost.com/~sunrisen/sreho.htm

Richmond Controls has a very nice flasher board that is prototypical is brightness, length in between and the duration of the flash. They are well worth what you pay. Good thing is you can even load these on the under side of an empty flat car if you want. The wires to this one is also a lot smaller and unnoticable.

Now if you'd rather go battery powered then track powered then it can be done but you have to have a car with a load on it or something to hide the battery. One thing I found hard to decide on was the capacitor type. Sense I run in show's and such I chose the Super Capacitor. I have another with a regular capacitor for playing trains at home run by a battery so no need to worry about dirty track. Hope this helps.

Something I forgot to mention next to it being to scale. The casting is so well made it has the carrying handle cast onto the side of it. I super detailed mine using brass wire (not sure of size) and cut a piece and drilled a small hole and glued for an antenna then painted it flat black with a bead of black paint on the tip.
