Almost forgot to post this. That is what happens when you have been fighting with trying to remove malware form the computer for three nights. When you finally have done it you forget why you were on the computer in the first place. Tomorrow will be a sports day starting with my son’s team the Drexel Hill Raiders Pee Wee Varsity hosting the Springfield Cougars. This is a big game as DHR is 4-1 and the Cougars are 5-0. Later in the day my daughter has a softball scrimmage. She is trying out for the travel team for next year and they will be practicing over the winter. Sunday is up in the air right now. On the layout I need to mix up some Sculpta-mold and fill in some gaps and shape some rocks. Also I could start the foam base for the mountain and glue down the last part of the layout. On the work bench I need to finish weathering a caboose, a two-bay hopper, and a covered hopper. I have some vehicles to weather and some LPP’s to paint.
On my way up north today to finish clearing out some trees and getting the cottage ready for the winter. Hope to work on some modifications to the track plan while there and perhaps late Sunday when we get back continue working on the Walthers Coaling Tower. (Thanks to Eric for those pictures - that helped clarify what has to be done). Have a great weekend all:teeth:
I actually got a head start on weekend work this week. Last night I managed to get half of the track onto the helix. I hope to continue tonight and finish laying track on the helix so we can install the risers and finish getting that part of the layout built tomorrow. Sunday is the SCWD Youth Group meeting. I'll be showing some structure photos to the group for ideas on building this year's contest model. We'll also talk about some basic construction tips and techniques.
After doing nothing for a week, I'm going to try and get a little done this weekend. Maybe some painting of ties (have to do it by hand with a brush as the track is already in place). Also have a new locomotive that I need to do a bit of modification on and then run in. Still trying to get myself psyched up to try making trees. Regards Ed
If I'm lucky, I'll get to work on re-assembling my HO C-628 with the Soundtraxx board. I disassembled it quite a while ago to clean the wheels, gears and strip the shell of my weathing effects. I was also trying to strip the paint but IPA didn't budge against the Stewart's paint and decals. Then I switched to N scale and there it sat. But, it's time to get it running and sold. The wheels and gears have been cleaned and lightly oiled/greased and the trucks reassembled. I now need to re-install the sound board. I'm going to try and hard wire it in. I don't like the way that Soundtraxx has you insert the wires in those little white connector boxes. Not sure how easy it will be to de-soldered them and solder the wires? We shall see. Bill
I'll be working to level the track behind the Asylum. Long trains are tipping over there. It shouldn't be too bad. Slice the scenery. Jam in some shims. Run trains. Fix the scenery.
Its friday the 13th the most LUCKIEST day ever...lol every friday the 13th i always get lucky. I thank my luck has already happened i was offered a trip to Denver,Co with my bro. but i turned it down.
My little work with sculpt-mold, it turned out lumpy, like cottage cheese. Is there a way to give it a smoother consistency? If I added more water, it seemed to make runnier cottage cheese... My weekend plans, train show in Indianapolis. Its a new show for me since I just moved to Texas. Can you say "about to spend way too much?"
Okay, you've confused me (not all that hard to do). Indianapolis, as in Indiana? Isn't that a long haul from Beaumont for a train show? Regards Ed
Research, research, research. I'm chomping at the bit to get started on a new layout but can't do anything until my idiot contractor finishes & installs my wife's new kitchen cabinets so I can get all the junk out of the Florida room where my new layout is going! Frustrating but I'll make the best of it. I still have a lot to (re)learn.
Been awhile since I've posted, life got in the way:angry: Well I finally got the ten SD40-2's done and shipped to Bloomington IL! Now to start work on this! This will be painted in a Northern Pacific "fantasy" scheme for a customer in Champaign IL. It spent a month in the strip tank, primmed and painted today. Hopefully decals tomorrow.
First time to post in here in ages. Weekend plans, normal weeknd stuff, plus a birthday party Sat night. 3 of the grandkids coming to spend the night. Nascar and MRR'ing then. Sun, afternoon football and MRRing. Trying to finish scenery under my bridges, so I can get them down and tracks laid. Thats my plan, never works that way though. Hope ya'll have a gooden.
Well getting back into N Scale after a hiatus. I plan on starting a two by four N scale layout this weekend.
point to point Well I started tinkering around with an idea of a small point to point, 2' x 12' wright know I am in the planning stages, this would probably make a good setup for the steel mill complex system that I have on order from Walthers.plus it will make one heck of a diorama.:shade: till then.
