Being a Rio Grande fan I am all for Tunnel Motors. An anquaintence has told me that he may be able to produce an N scale tunnel motor body that could be fitted to an SD50/60 chassis, for the correct length. When and how he intends to produce such a model I don't know, but I will keep you tunnel motor fans up to date on any information that I can get. It all depends on the demand. Holding my breath for a order I placed in Jan. 2000 for a PRR T-1 Duplex 4-4-4-4. Brass from Key Imports. It will finish off my PRR steam collection and no doubt my bank account. Already have their brass M1-a 4-8-2 and runs well. ...Eddie ------------------ Eddie Delozier PRR N-scale www.deloziers.com eddelozier@yahoo.com
Definitely SD40/45T-2 series!! Then the SD70/75 series and then finish with the DASH 8 series. How about some NTTX spine cars ALAN? (hint hint) God Bless!
Are you reading my mind? NTTX cars are coming - eventually!! ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com Andersley Western Railroad Alan's American Gallery
I agree with a lot of the choices already suggested - a tunnel motor (both RG and SP), any really modern bang up to date AC diesel and a really good Mike or Santa Fe (2-8-2 or 2-10-2 for the non steam enthusiasts); all from Kato or Atlas. It makes you wonder if the manufacturers do ever do any genuine customer research or whether they just rely on the conservative advice of their own accountants as to what will sell - the latter I suspect although I realize they are not philanthropic institutions and have to make money for their shareholders/owners. However, without customers there would be no money to be made at all so there is a balance to be drawn somewhere! Ben
man I could realy use some late model SD40-2s with out the snoot nose, BN has a ton of these and I would need at least 4 of them. I could also use some good GP38's and B32-8. Kevin

But a B32-8? Weren't there only ever 3 of these, all prototype/test units? If these are the units, then they were GE's test units for pushing the design of the FDL12 engines. Admittedly, they did look good in BN green/black Gary.
Nope, the Amtrak GEs are B32-8s (used to be 500s, not sure what they are now). Some of the Genesis locos also only have 3200 HP (P32s), and they could be considered B32-8s with a different carbody (since the Genesis has 4000 or 4200 HP, called P40/P42s are really B40/42-8s with HEP). Enough of that. As for locos, a lot of the aforementioned. SD70 series - some UP wings would be nice!! SD38/38-2 - nice touch to round out the 30 series. GP38-2 - A re-run of the KATO loco would be nice GP38 - Life-Like makes em, be hard to convince others to (if LL redid them to their new standards... ) SD40/45-2T - Tunnel motors are essential for the modern UP modeler (and SP, DRGW) as are the SD90s coming out. I'm looking forward to the P40s KATO is doing as well, and I've heard the LL F40 is not a bad puller either, but the MP one is very poor. Somebody else mentioned Dash 8s, well Bachmann is doing these, so they won't get redone. Some of these run pretty well, especially with a little work. ------------------ Corey Lynch Pres - Rensselaer Model RR Society NEB&W RR http://www.rpi.edu/~lynchc/Railfanning/railfanning.htm - My Site http://www.union.rpi.edu/railroad/ - NEB&W

I knew BN only had 3 but I though someone else had them too. Heres a link if it works. http://archive.trainpix.com/BN/GE/B32-8/5499.htm Kevin
After a great deal of thought (sorry bout the smoke) I have decided what I really want is B30-7AB's. If I'm gonna dream just as well dream BIG!
Ah-ha! Thanks, Corey, I forgot about the AMTRAK variant. I was thinking of the 3 original test beds that BN had for 2 years leased at $1/year. Gary.
Somebody else mentioned Dash 8s, well Bachmann is doing these, so they won't get redone. Some of these run pretty well, especially with a little work. I hope KATO or ATLAS would do some variations of this!! Maybe someone(ALAN) could do a cast metal frame to go under these which would be able to fit KATO or ATLAS parts?? GOD BLESS ALL! DAve
<BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by SD75I: I hope KATO or ATLAS would do some variations of this!!<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Dave, it's good to use the quote feature (as above) when quoting a post directly (and you can delete out what you don't want to respond to, as I have done to yours). Sure, I'd like to see KATO and Atlas do all of our models, but that's just not possible. Sometimes you have to settle for the available model, or make some changes to it. If you're waiting for either company to make a Dash 8 OR a GP38 (Life-Like), it'll be a while. If you go to the Atlas forum on their site, and ask them to make one, they will respond with something like "Bachmann currently produces this model, so we won't do it." KATO has pretty much the same policy. Besides, there are other engines that "need" to be done as well, as proven by this post. Also, at the rate that these companies are producing locos, a Dash 8 probably won't be in the cards for at LEAST 5 years. (Technically, KATO is making a dash 8, the Amtrak Genesis loco, but I don't think that's what you're looking for. ) ------------------ Corey Lynch Pres - Rensselaer Model RR Society NEB&W RR http://www.rpi.edu/~lynchc/Railfanning/railfanning.htm - My Site http://www.union.rpi.edu/railroad/ - NEB&W
What I'd really like to see produced is a GE dash 8-40 B. nobody does that one. ------------------ Catt!#118
As much as Kato and Atals are the leaders in models I'm still very interested to see what Life like are going to release. thier last few models have been up there with the best and provide great value for money. Something along the line of the GP20 would be great maybe a GP15? ------------------ Paul Cassar-# Member number 50 SPAD Investigator #1 ICQ 61198217 http://users.bigpond.net.au/railroad2000
