Like those Green MTL US Army boxcars, but dont think they are appropriate for your modern themed layout? To my surprise, look what I found on July 17, on a spur at FT. McCoy, WI...

For those that are interested the cars are on a spur near the OLD commissary. The string has the following cars:
    Green Army cars USAX
    26076, 26400, and 26875
    Yellow Army cars USAX:
    26418, 26419, 26420
and DOD Tank car DODX 14041.

They are used for railcar loading training. At McCoy for the Rail Operations unit out of Milwaukee.

No FLATS ! ! Back in MY military days, all the vehicles were loaded on flats (except maybe the Jeeps, if the boxcar doors were wide enough. Don't they do training with flats?

Yes there are/were flats for training too. The only flats the military owns in large quantity are DODX 10000 series for moving M1 tanks and M88 recovery vehicles. This thread is a few years old, I have no idea what is now at FT McCoy. Regrettably the Army's last railway unit will disband in the next year or two.
