Is there a good beginners link for a "how to" on scenery. I want to get started but don't even know where to begin. I would like a mountian scene if that helps...

    Thank you.

    Flounder-

There have been several recent threads that have touched upon various aspects of this subject. With in-progress photos. Perhaps using the Trainboard search engine would bring them up for you. You didn't mention the scale you are modeling in, but the techniques would be essentially the same in any size.

    Flounder-

As stated by Boxcab, there are several threads around here dealing with various aspects of scenery.
Please go to the board for the scale you have and poke around and post your question there. I guarantee several answers and suggestions within 12-24 hours.

I would also suggest you take a careful look at any book or "how to" by David Fleary. He has his own website and I think he is, or was, published by Kalmbach.

I'm certain you were meaning to say Dave Frary. He is a master of creating scenery. His web site: http://www.mrscenery.com/

If you start reading some of the model railroading magazines you can also get a good idea about it. there is generally an article or two about it in every issue.

Most of the beginner books also have good scenery info. Go to a book store or library and look around. Many libraries carry model railroader and you can check out issues to take home and read.

Dave Frary published an excellent book on scenery some years back. I think Kalmbach still has it in print. I have used his methods to great success on several layouts. His emphasis is on water based scenery, which is very useful when your layout is in a bedroom.
