Here it is Friday already, what do we have in store this weekend for our modeling world?

For me, I will continue to try and get done what I didn't last weekend.
Layout organization, build a few cars and whatever, weather is not supposed to be nice, so the basement calls. [IMG]

Don't forget to run trains!- [IMG]

Everyone have a great weekend!- :D

A lot of what I get done this weekend depends on the weather. If we get the heavy rains that are predicated I maybe bailing out my basement. Also my son’s football team, the Drexel Hill Raiders Pee Wee AA, has their first road game against Swathmorewood Rams under the lights tonight. My daughter is scheduled to cheerlead tomorrow for the Midget A game at Swathmorewood. If I have time for modeling I would like to finish painting the detail parts I started and add them to the Water Tower Diorama, the Passenger Station Diorama, and the Pink Boutique.

I suspect I won't even look at my layout this weekend. I am chaperoning the marching band trip to an away football game tonight. I have to be at the school at 3:45 PM and we are not likely to be back before midnight as the game is over an hour away in the big yellow beasts we ride. Tomorrow morning, I have to deliver my daughter to school by 7 AM for an overnight trip to Dallas. The school has put together a performance group to appear at a school board convention Sunday afternoon. After we drop her off, we also leave town to visit my sister in law in Fort Worth and to watch the performance. With any luck, I should be home by about 7 or 8 PM Sunday evening. Nope, I don't think I will be modeling this weekend.

    Tom,

Good luck with the football games. We spent a lot of years with various youth sports. My son played football in Bucks County at Council Rock HS his sophmore and junior years and was one of the members of the first edition of the Council Rock South Golden Hawks football team.

I'm still in acquisition mode- just sent off money for track and turnouts, and I'm bidding on a decoder and power pack on eBay. So, my weekend will be mostly spent waiting (impatiently [IMG] ) for goodies to arrive.

{edit} I've also printed out my track plan and pinned it to the benchwork, to help visualize things and so that I can figure out what the minimum grade I can get away with will be. [IMG]

Plan to have more of my D&H Model collection online even though most are still in kit form.

More sculptamold fun on the team track and another attempt to get the right shade of bleached asphalt paint mixed up.

I'll be showing the local youth model railroad club (a subgroup of our NMRA division) the basics of doing scenery. It's a clinic that I presented at Seattle this year (and my handout is on my website, http://riptrack.net, in the HOWTOs section), but for the kids, I've modified it a little with more materials so that they can all try it out on the club layout.

Other than changing the focus from the audience watching me to the audience doing it with me, I don't think there's any real change needed to the clinic. I'll try to get some photos up by the end of the weekend.

Other than that, we're getting ready to display our NTrak modules at the upcoming railroad show in Monroe next week. I've got photos of my module set (still under construction) in my RailImages gallery (http://www.railimages.com/gallery/seanlamb).

Maybe not much for the weekend. I do plan to post a new engine in the Weekend Foto Fun, but that is about it.

Except...I am going to Tarleton State University for parents weekend in Stephenville, Texas. I know there are some covered hoppers there, and I plan to take some pictures of those. Otherwise, I am going to keep a sharp ear out for a train. Hope that it works out. [IMG]

Stephenville is southwest of Ft worth. Any trains there?

I've started doing some detail painting of my new set of IM FTs, using Verne's article as a basis. It's amazing what just a little paint can do to a model. The next step will be to add some detail parts. Hopefully, I'll have some photos soon.
All of you in the path of what's left of Ivan, we're thinking of you!

Plenty of trains in Fort Worth. Tower 55 is one of the busiest railroad interchanges in the southwest...usually ~100 trains per day. If you're talking specifically about Stephenville, the Fort Worth & Western Railroad runs through there and they usually have a couple of trains per day. However, BNSF does run some reroutes through there, and they are supposedly becoming more frequent of late...mostly intermodals, I believe.

The reason BNSF likes the FWWR route is because it is the only way to get through Fort Worth WITHOUT going through the Tower 55 diamonds....and historically UP has made it difficult for BNSF to get throught the tower. (UP dispatches) So they probably give UP the bird as they go underneath the UP main just outside Centennial Yard. Centennial Yard is a hot spot in FW along with Tower 55 and Saginaw, among others.

BTW, there's a train show in Temple this weekend which is on your way if you take I-35, and not too much out of the way if not. I'll be there around lunch on Saturday. E-mail me if you think you might drop by.

Well, if all goes well I should get the last section of grid work cut and screwed together for my Portage Wis. yard. Already have the wall preped, painted, clouds added and backdrop glued on. [IMG]
