Same seller, another "winning" description... This is enough to make me want to quit BOTH writing AND the hobby...

This N Scale Box Car from Atlas is the perfect addition to any model railroad collection. With its sleek PENNSYLVANIA MERCHANDISE SERVICE design and durable construction, this box car is sure to impress both collectors and enthusiasts alike. The car features a spacious interior, making it ideal for transporting a wide variety of goods.

The brand new condition of this box car ensures that it is in top working order and ready for use right out of the box. Measuring in at the perfect gauge for N scale railroads, this car is compatible with a wide variety of other train cars and accessories. Whether you are just starting out with model railroading or are a seasoned collector, this Atlas box car is sure to be a valuable addition to your collection.

Here's a tip: Turn your phone 90 degrees. Here's another one: Stop using boldface for your description. And since it's Black Friday Weekend, a third free tip with the first two: If you're going to charge this much, peel the original price sticker off the box before you take its photo.

And one more... this rather eclectic lot includes an HO Scale Life-Like 7-11 plastic kit. Seeing this resulted in a bad flashback... that kit was a bear to put together, back when I was still more of a kid than even a teenager if I recall correctly. I don't think there was a single straight part in the entire kit, made out of third rate plastic. This protocol would later filter down to Life-Like's N Scale kits, which were "cheapened" to the point of being unusable in my opinion...

These ridiculous AI descriptions compound the headache of seeing estate seller postings, combining breathtakingly high pricing and poor photography with moronic descriptions. Junk is junk and I doubt any AI hyperbole helps to reverse that.

Read in the WSJ that the requirement to mail 1099-k forms and report annual sales or transfers exceeding $600 has again been shelved by the IRS for another tax year. To be clear, the tax is still owed. The article reports that the IRS proposing to increase the threshold to $5,000 for tax year 2024. Let's hope. I'm thinking that there are many other amateur small-time Sellers like me who want only to make some space in their homes and have quit eBay selling as a result of this ill-advised change to the tax code. With the small-time Sellers having vacated, most of the good stuff on eBay has taken flight.

The AI descriptions remind me of some of the worse student essays I've seen. Lots of words to say nothing at best, and to be very confidently wrong at worst.

The sellers who use the AI descriptions have no idea, evidently, how ridiculous it makes them and their auctions look.

One of my high school classmates had a variation on the "impress" quote: "Get the shovel out."
    I'll leave it right there...

Before retirement, I noticed a steady decline in the quality of resumes we'd receive. I can only imagine what AI is creating these days.

Maybe just for giggles I will find out. The good news is apparently it doesn't know what the UMTRR is... yet. I would rather not be replaced by a database. (AI=DB as far as I'm concerned.)

Although another line describes the age range as from 168 months, or 14 years, to 1188 months, or "only" 99 years.

I think that means we're all disqualified!

eBay Tip #4,568,201 in a series...

No, I will NOT pay $11.00 shipping for a single N Scale item, even if it is shipped Priority Mail.

    (Examples abound.)
