And another milestone on this thread... Hardcoaler with the 10,000th Post! Another carload of Bonus Points* heading out the door** for our lucky contestant! Congratulations! *Still not redeemable for anything. ** Figuratively speaking.
Something that most people don't realize, but when someone wins something like a car (or any other big ticket item), even thought they get the car for free, they still have to pay the taxes, destination fee, and registration on it. One year Oprah gave everyone in the audience a car, but more than a few were unable to actually get the car because of the other costs. In So Cal, there is a group giving away a 'free' passenger car to anyone who wants it...you just need to pay for the shipping and storage. The nicest thing about the bonus points that are being handed out are: they're free, no taxes, no shipping or storage costs, and they never expire. This makes them truly valuable!
Whoa! Posts, points, in any case, a day to remember. And coincidentally worth the same as my Best Buy RewardZone Card -- $0.
This is very true. And also proves the old saying which says something similar to 'nothing in life is free'.
I asked the seller, who has/had multiples of these listed, "Have these been track tested?" Response: "No I have not been tested. However, I’ve sold about 200. I’m in the last two months with no issues. I do offer a full return if you don’t work but I do not have the time to test 864 engines I apologize." Not sure how that aligns with "Seller does not accept returns"... And if you have the time to determine a high-end price for a potential shelf queen (the seller name screams "picker"), then I don't have time to take any chances. Next!
The tone of his "what-do-you-expect-of-me?" response sets the stage for a try-your-luck purchase. A quick test with a 9V battery would take perhaps 15 seconds.
lol How 'bout an "open box", "scratched" XBOX wifi card for $79.97 when I just ordered another "new" for $13+, free ship included? They go on to say . . . ALL RESALE/WHOLESALE/DROP SHIP ORDER(S) IS SOLD AS-IS AND SALE IS FINAL! NO RETURNS. 3 DAYS SATISFACTION GUARANTEED (How so? Oops, my bad, was there a 0 after that 3?)
Here's another bargain basement Bachmann Old timer priced at only $58.00 plus over $10 shipping. The box still has a $3.50 sticker with another marked down to $3.00. I think these cars first came out around 1980 and based on the model number it was made prior to 1986. $3.50 in an inflation calculator from 1984 would be equal to $10.50 in 2023 dollars. Of course, they use the word "vintage" in the description but that's pretty meaningless for old toy train-set-level stuff with pizza cutter wheels and Rapido couplers. Bachmann Old Time Flat It's not like there aren't dozens of these listed page after page in the $10 to $15 range. Don't these people ever look at the other listings for the same stuff? I always thought that was just common sense but then common sense doesn't seem to be all that common anymore. Cheers
Not and eBay listing, but rather from Facebook. If ya ever want to sell something but you want the buyers to immediately hate you and not finish reading your sale post….definitely do it like this guy!
