Good morning from cloudy, cool, and rainy Northeast Ohio! Another slow week, still recovering from the cold I got the previous week, so a lot of time just sitting with a blanket to keep warm, but I did manage to get one car done this week. Finished a Stewart 14 panel hopper car, painted with Scalecoat II Black paint and lettered with some decals that Brian Banna had made for his NYC hoppers, he gave me permission to purchase from his decal supplier and I thank him profusely, they are great decals with all the things that shout out NYC. A pair of Intermountain Railway Company F3's with a general freight running on the Strongsville club layout. Have a great weekend! Rick Jesionowski
I went to an estate sale last Saturday. I wasn't going to buy anything, but came across the two Missouri Pacific Geeps, powered, and NIB for $20.00 each. Now I am waiting on parts to finish them..
Finally finished the second freight car kit I bought back on the 4th. Official portrait: Here's how I managed to fit an underframe that's too narrow to hold in the car shell: I progressively added shims until the underframe held itself inside the shell. I used 0.030" and .040" styrene strips glued to the inside of the shell. The whole kit and kaboodle holds together but I'm still eyeing that contraption with vigilance because it most likely wait until my guard is down and drop its underframe when I least expect it (and likely in the most expected location, during the short time it spends above the floor instead of the layout...)
