it is a little odd to me, though, that they sell a sequencing hub but these are solid-on and don't change. Seems to me like it was right there for them to produce, just have 3 leads - one for each color lamp - coming out the base so that you have to use an entire hub per light. Profit city for WS, and the consumer gets an ezpz working, changing traffic light. I have bought several JP lights and a couple of hubs, they definitely have their place, but yeah - you could easily drop several thousand lighting your whole layout with the stuff.
The cost factor is of course quite an item to be considered. If you have a smaller layout [as mine is] then the extra cost v the number of lights and the simplicity makes these quite attractive.
Yeah most larger layouts use something like @mtntrainman did as the Just Plug would be too expensive to do at one time. I have seen a few larger layouts use them, but they bought street light's, hubs, the buildings, etc... over a period of time. Whatever works for you?
I really like what In2Tech is doing with his WS lights on his layout. My homemade traffic lights aren't lit. Reason being...they are not the focus of the layout. They are just there so that at a quick glance people can see that that intersection DOES have traffic control. I could have just stuck 4 stop signs there and been done with it but I liked the challenge of making my own traffic lights. Everyone has there own ideas as to what is more 'important' to them on their layouts. Nothing wrong with that at all.
Why is theirs all straight and stuff and look professional? What the he..! Need curbs like that too in places. They also mostly install HO, cheaters
in2tech, Thanks for the video, I found it interesting. I purposely built my rural "burg" as a "don't blink or you'll miss it" so I wouldn't have to worry about anything but stop signs. It would be neat to have the flashing light though. I don't know where you live, but to make the red stop light prototypical you would have to have at least two or three cars running it as it turns red. Ralph
A while back I wanted a 4 way traffic light over an intersection in my village. The only thing available was single post lights, similar to the WS lights. I decided to build one which continues to work today.
Where I live now they apparently say, "green means go, yellow also means go, and red means go but prepare to be honked at."
Well, wouldn't you know, just like real life, someone ran the RED light. Police & Sherriff on the scene already Apparently I need to look for an N Scale ambulance, of course I could use one of my helicopters I guess Just now noticed, it was the Police that ran the RED light and hit the Grey car, too funny I should put my glasses on when staging a scene, but it wound up being funny Only on my layout So question, do they write themself a ticket?
The cops are not gonna write themselves a ticket! One in Chicago did just that to my nephew some years ago, totaling his car. ...And you need a couple of Accident Lawyers standing there too ...
These bought before the Bundle sale, and that's not even half of them, they are in another room right now on the diorama. But I am going to buy a few bundles. I am addicted to the RPS vehicles. I do have one or two that came with mirror's, but too tiny for me to add Now I will say I ordered the Black Police trucks and they sent the regular Black truck, so they sent the Police ones and told me to keep the plain ones for Free. I love these things, can you tell?
