Hi! Just wanted to say hello from Sweden and say thank you for all inspiration and advice you guys have posted here so far. I'm currently beginning my Z-scale layout. After having a serious attack of rolling stock collecting I have begun hammering out my first US style module. I will follow the Z-mod standard at www.zmod.no more or less. It seems to be catching on here on the other side of the atlantic. I will post some pics on my progress when I have some place to host them. Right now it's just an anonymous end module but the woodwork is pretty much done so now the fun starts. Regards, Mikael [ October 10, 2005, 04:58 PM: Message edited by: Mikael ]
Hi there Mikael. I see you are using our www.ZMOD.no standard. I’m glad to here about that. As you may know we already have a Swede on board. “Bosse” maybe you know him? And maybe you also would like to come to Norway the next time we are going to hold a ZMOD and Z-scale show in Oslo. The planes are some time in the spring. Any who, Welcome aboard this Train Forum. It has a lot off god builders in Z-Scale that show off their work here.
Hi Mikael, Welcome to Trainboard. I am happy you are finding some interesting topics here. That's good news that there is a popular standard for Z Scale over there. Most of the modular clubs in the US are Z-Bend Track, but there are Z-mod clubs in Texas and in Illinois too. What I like best about having a popular standard is when we get several clubs together to connect up all our modules. In Cincinatti last summer there were a dozen clubs from all over connected together, and it was so much fun to run trains over such a long route. -Robert
Mikael....ha det god med din ny layout äventyr. Det er alt nöje och utbildningsen. Ge oss om du behov hjälp. Cam
Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone! I have two pictures so far that I will post asap (when my railimages account is approved). Torsja: Keep up the great work. I'm sorry I don't know Bosse (I've only seen his module on your website). But hey, I might take you up on the Z-mod meeting if I have something to display then. Pray59: I was thinking about the Z-bend standard but Z-mod was closer at hand somehow (well Norway is just next door). Your trestle module is awesome! Cam: Tack så mycket! /Mikael
Welcome to TrainBoard Mikael. It's good to see more Scandinavians here! [ October 11, 2005, 11:34 AM: Message edited by: Heine Pedersen ]
Welcome Mikael! ZMOD is great!, the idea of building a zmod module and taking it to norway has crossed my mind a few times, allthough it's not very practical
SmolderZ, just put your module in the car and drive to Kiel (Germany) and on to the ferry. And You will be in Oslo the next morning.
It is possible, yes I could build a converter which allows my current modules to connect with zmod's Let me finish my modules first ok?
Torsja, I'm curious if there is any relationship between the ZMod (Norway) standard and the Z-Mod standard used by two groups in Texas. The look similar, but not quite the same. I try to keep up to date on which groups are using which standards, and how one might build transition modules between the two, since I am organizing the Z module effort for NTS2006 in Philly. In NTS 2001 and 2002 there were transition modules used to connect Z-Bend Track and Z-Mod (USA) standard modules together. We will have one Z-Mod group and one or two ZTrainZ groups joining in with the Z-Bend Track groups for a combined display in NTS2006. Y'all want to come for a visit next year. Randy Smidt
