Well, Yesterday was the official release date for the new Z Scale MTL GP-35, and I have yet to see one.

So far the only sightings reported have been from Anthony at Z Scale Monster, as he claimed to be preparing his shipments late Wedensday night. [IMG]

So, has anyone ventured into their local hobby shop and seen one yet? [IMG]

Please report all sightings, and, if they are already sold out, as I expect these to be snapped up in short order. [IMG]

None reported here in the Sf Bay Area yet.

Check the mail, but the GP-35 is not here.
I want it delivered by this satarday, because I want to play my geep this Labor day weekend.
But knowing my luck, next week.

Is a new road coming in October? I'd like to see a B&O and Chessie. I'm not a PRR fan but I might go ahead and order one from Anthony. I'm just happy that MTL is producing them! :D

    Robert,
I told you, if someone who could finish all the modification in time for the convention, it would be you. I dont think you need sleep with all the thing you get done.

Just how many of those "covered hoppers" are you making? And is there a GN one for sale? [IMG]

Help, I thought its release to be somewhere in autumn! Good that I found this forum. Maybe it is not too late to order one? Before you guys buy all the existing models??? Is there only a PRR-engine? The website of MT didn't show a example of the engine.

A question: are models from MT better than the ones from Märklin? I have no experience with MT because it is almost impossible to find them here in Holland (except for N-scale, and I am lucky to have an N-scale layout and many MT cars).

    Thieu,
Here's a website that has the information about MTL. www.zscalemonster.com The Pennsy GP35 is the first of what I hope is many roads to come. I have read a lot of good things about it.

Anthony (Z Scale Monster Trains) is a good dealer with reasonable prices. Email him if you have any questions.

Hi Thieu, and Welcome to Trainboard. I think the GP's are still available, as most hobby shops don't have theirs yet. I would order yours quickly, as ther is no telling how long they will last. The good news is that MTL plans many roadnames, so you won't have to go without for long.

This is the Z Scale locomotive for the masses. The price is not bad if you get them from a discount shop like Feather River Trains, or Z Scale Monster.

I ran mine for an hour, pulling a 10 car train around my test loop, without the shell on, and the motor did not even get hot. I ran the train forward for 30 minutes, then pushed 10 cars backwards for 1/2 hour, without derailments, to test the hopper cars I was building at the same time as loco burn-in.

The problem is: I don't have a credit card, and I have no experience with Paypal. Oh, and I have a wife too. :D

Not to worry, as there will be lots of these locomotives released.

It seems to me, that I remember visiting a hobby shop just north of the train station in Eindhoven (north station exit and follow that road straight up 1-2 kilometers to a shopping center where the hobby shop was) that carried Micro Trains cars in the early 90's. They may still be in business.

I cannot remember the name of the shop, but trains were on the 2nd floor, and they carried everything.

Eindhoven? What were you doing there? :D Well, many modelrailroad shops have disappeared. And special items (like USA models) are hard to get, because there are just a few fans who buy these things. So this shop (you mean 'Willies'?) has no MT anymore.
In Holland we have only one shop selling MT. And they have Z scale from Märklin. But I will ask them what they can do for me. They order all my N scale models and I have no complaints.

A shop with a second floor in Eindhoven sounds like 'Speyers' to me [IMG] To bad they're gone, I loved that shop.

I buy most of my stuff at 'Willies', to bad they still didn't recieve my Woodland Scenics kit... :( Seems he doesn't have the best suppliers for that brand.

Nice to see another dutchman on this forum, welcome Thieu! [IMG]

And what on earth were you doing in Eindhoven Robert?!, I'm at school over there! :D It's such a small world...

Haha! You guys both from that area?

I used to work for ASML in Veldhoven, and stayed 3 months at a holiday camp in Eersel. Ter Spegelt! It was nice. I also stayed in a penthouse for 6 months in the red light district of Eindhoven behind the Holiday Inn. [IMG]

My first trip in '86 was when I got back into model railroading, as there were so many shops with so much model railroad stuff at great prices. Of course the exchange rate was 2.65 to 1, so I stocked up. When I went back in '92 the exchange rate was only 1.8 to 1, but there were still deals to be found. :D

    Great memories, Great Country! [IMG]
