Hello all, I am planning on painting a Kato SD9043MAC in the EMD Demonstrator paint scheme and can't seem to find any good photos of the engines that will assist me in this project. Anyone have any ideas where some good quality photos can be found on the web?
You're in luck There is a nice color photo of EMD8204, the SD90MAC demonstrator here: http://gelwood.railfan.net/other/emd/emd8204.jpg eNjoy Don B
Careful, this is a "true" SD90MAC, it has the slanted roof. 90/43s have a flat roof. I don't believe there was an SD90/43 demonstrator, they were just a fix until EMD ironed out the H engine, but UP and CP decided to keep them as 90/43s.
Indeed there was no SD9043MAC demo HOWEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There was a SD80MAC demo pair these units became CR 4128/4129
Don, Thanks for your reply and link. This was exactly what I was looking for. I thought the demonstrator was an SD9043MAC. Thanks to the others who corrected me on this. This should help me when I try to find more pictures, specifically from above.
There are also 5 color photos on line of the painted Overland HO brass model, but the file strings for the photos contain parentheses ( ) and TrainBoard won't accept them as links If anyone is interested you can email me directly and I will send you the links to these photos. eNjoy Don B Email dondia@gateway.net
I don't know. It looks easier to do than the UP Desert Storm SD40-2 that I did before. It came out really nice except that the darker brown ended up being to light. I plan on doing another in the future. Don, it is funny, after I found out what it actually was that I needed to look for, I found all the same photos you have listed, even the painted brass ones. I painted this in HO also. It came out awsome [ 22 October 2001: Message edited by: PF2488 ]</p>
