I’m looking to do a build of the UPP 9336, and I’m trying to find a good truck. I’ve not been able to find a truck that I think is a good fit! So I’m going to make them, hopefully. But first I need to find out what kind they are. So far no luck, so if anyone can fill in the blanks that would be helpful. Wheel size?? Wheel base?? Weight capacity?? Manufacturer??

Closest I can help is a picture on rr-fallenflags.org. Fairly decent shot but can't help much. Have you tried contacting the UP itself they have links on their site .

What interests me the most are the trucks. I was looking at Walthers to see if they had anything close (not really). You might want to look for a similar freight truck and then add the bolster anchor bar yourself. It would be easy enough with some .020” styrene and a segment of wire. I’ll see if I can find any blueprints for the car. I also have instructions for scratchbuilding an Amtrak MHC (old Model Railroader article). They are relatively similar cars, but the underbody information will probably be useful. There is more under there for passenger service compared to a regular freight boxcar.
I might have found something, but not perfect: Central Valley T-57 trucks. They are regular freight car trucks, so they look to have the standard 5’6” wheelbase instead of the 6’6” one, but they have the sealed bearings, which is a distinguishable feature. You would have to add the bolster anchor yourself. I have done it on some passenger trucks, so it is managable. It is basically like adding a detail part, not that hard if you know the basic dimensions. Here is a photo I stole off eBay. You can see the T-57 on the paper (also the trucks sitting on the paper). I have the T-56, which is basically the same, but with “Timken” stamped on the cover plate. The bottom photo is the T-56 on my workbench.
I have an old ambroid h-5 UP 60’ postal car that I’m hoping to use as the base. Any and all would help.the trucks are one of the features That stands out the most to me so starting there seemed to be the right place.
Thanks We’re definitely getting there, do you think the 9336 has 100 ton trucks with 36” wheels? The kit I got off eBay said it had Central valley trucks I’m not sure if there t- 56 but I think you are right t-56 is close. I don’t think I’m going to find a 6’-6” wb truck, but the overall shape and details are there on on the t-56! So long as the wheel size is right I think we got it.

I just ordered two set off ebay, I’ll have to see if that’s how they all come. Or see if I can put 36” under them and how it will look
I too have one in build and have done a lot of this research, utahrails is the primary source of info. Pictures are online, plenty on railpictures and rrpictures I couldn't find any 6'6" trucks but 100 ton Proto trucks a 6' and come with the correct 36" wheels. I used a Pemco car for the basic shell.
Ill check it out, I just got part of my ebay order waiting on the ambroid h-5 UP 60’ postal car. as far as I can tell its supposed to be a class BE-70-1 so it should be a good fit
This is a kitbash,The doors are a acurail part I cut them down to the right size and removed the rivit details. I also recessed them.025” deep to keep the “smooth look”
I’m still working on the trucks, got a few ideas for them. As I think about how I’m going to make them I’ve been spending time trying to get the rough Details on.
