This is the Icehouse Bridge in Roseville Ca. It was originally built as a pedestrian bridge allowing workers to access the huge PFE ice house in the Roseville yard. It now provides a foot path from Downtown, across dry creek to a park and the veteran's hall. This is an old pick, just these past few months, it was removed and refurbished and new abutments installed. Haven't been down to see it yet.
As seen last week on the 'Loops" east of Asheville, NC near Old Fort was Train 123 after hitting a mudslide which damaged 7257's pilot as seen in the first photo. Fortunately there was no derailment nor injuries. The crew set 60 handbrakes on 123, and the 7257 and 9508 cut off their train and drifted downgrade for repair. Meanwhile, units ran light from Asheville to come in behind 123 and ease the train downgrade to rest at Old Fort. Happily, NS 8099, the SOU Heritage Unit was in the consist of these units. Not my best photography, but darkness comes early in these mountain valleys. Nonetheless, I was pleased to have seen the 8099.
There were a few minutes to go before the library opened, so I drove by the Norfolk Southern yard by the Hattiesburg station. NS 2674 was sitting in the yard... IMG_0813 by chandlerusm posted Dec 29, 2018 at 5:48 PM I heard some activity from the other end, so I drove over past the station and saw NS 9210 switching some tank cars... IMG_0814 by chandlerusm posted Dec 29, 2018 at 5:50 PM I thought I might get a video of 9210 backing a cut past the camera but instead I got a nice surprise... NS 9191, UP 8313 and NS 7713 leading 100+ southbound towards New Orleans... Ok so I uploaded my photos to My Media and I see them fine on a laptop but on Tapatalk I see other people’s photos but for mine I only see the tags. Are most users using a different method to post pix? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Chandler, once you've uploaded into My Media, click on the photo/video to enlarge it. Then go to the right under Share Media. Click on Share This Media, and copy the image URL. Now click on the image icon above your message text and paste the URL in the box. Clicking OK on the URL box will place your image in the message text. BTW, I'm using a computer to do this. Don't have a clue about smart phones and Tapatalk. Nice catch at HBG. I went to the platform on 12/20 to catch ATK #20 and found autoracks and tanks next to the platform. After a few minutes they were pulled south across the CN (G&SI) diamond to clear the first yard switch. Then were backed onto the track adjacent to the main. Of course I didn't think to use my phone to video the whole thing. Too soon old, too late smart.
Nice car, but drab paint. Surprised UP would let it be stuffed and mounted without having road colors and lettering.
DPUs on a westbound oil can on CP roll across a vintage Soo Line underpass. The hammering of over-height trucks have largely destroyed the Soo Line signage.
Everything seems just fine. If by chance you want your still images larger, look for the option at page bottom for full size views. That usually, but not always makes them bigger.
The car ended up on the Milw, then sitting in town Panora as an office, diner, etc for many years. The museum ended upwith it a few years ago, and the single railnut there is working on it, or arranging work, as he can. Am trying to remember his name, but essentially, it was originally Pullman green, with a vestibule roof.
