I’m not a Marklin specialist but as this loco is full carbody I highly doubt its chassis would fit. I’ll look the book I was speaking yesterday about. Dom
Sorry, a little bit late. All following data comes from "A field guide to Trains" (Gerald Foster, Houghton Mifflin Editing). I will only quote road-switcher type locomotives that are factory made and available in Z scale. -EMD GP7/9 : 55'11". -EMD GP30/35 : 56'2". -EMD GP38-2 : 59'2". -EMD SD40-2 : 68'10". -EMD SD45 : 65'9-1/2". -EMD SD70/70M : 72'4". -GE C44-9W/ES44AC : 73'2". Reminder : 1 foot = 12 inches = 0.305 meter 1 inch = 2.54 centimeter. Hope this helps, Dom
Dom, Thank you for measurements. Certaiinly I will use it. Unfortunately no one of those locomotives is good for SM31 project. Pawel
Maybe, with a lot of bashing / scratchbuilding, and with replacing the 2-axle bogies with 3-axle bogies, the V212? https://www.maerklin.de/service/pro...erator.php?brand=1&artikelnummer=81400&lang=1 Matt
Matt, That was my candidate for SM42 but the cab (and the engine) is not in proper place. For SM31 this is too short. Currently examining Rokuhan's diesels. Thanks for suggestion. Pawel
As an effect of my "investigation" I got from Rokuhan Customer Support measurements of two Japanese diesels. They are not an easy answers for my project but might be considered for some major rebuilding. I must say that Rokuhan Customer Service works very well with fast answers. In case someone is interested in dimensions of DD51 and DE10 I enclose files from Rokuhan.
Coming back to the module ... I plan to have sand excavation area. I hope this 3D item will fit it well:

The man to be in charge added: I got some time to follow with the second U-module project. Rails get weathered and some grass next to ballast was added as well.
Some small items for modules: Stairs to be installed on the earthwork approaches to the bridge(3D printed and weathered): The well - first one was oversized but I made a new one Dog's houses - 3D
Joao, This MAN truck is 3D printed by small producer from Germany: http://www.easy01.de/etchIT-store/pi1529476764.htm?categoryId=40 http://www.easy01.de/etchIThome/gallery/idx.htm#56 http://www.easy01.de/etchIThome/gallery/idx.htm#57 Glazed windows are made using Humbrol ClearFix. Unfortunatelu this is possible for back and side windows. The front window is too big for this technique and still waiting for the window... BTW I like your models very much. Unfortunately most of them are useless for (Eastern) European layouts.
