Downtown Davidsville; the ATSF Olive-style depot is just outside of the photo in the lower left. I used a couple of mirrors here to make it look larger. John
Projects...the 22 of September is the beginning of Autumn. As such, it's also the beginning of the model railroad season. Therefore, we turn our attention to the neglected workbench and see the multitude of projects that we have collected over the summer. Here's a Spectrum 4-6-0, that needs D&RG decals...I am also looking at an Athearn Kenworth W900A and a refer trailer that need painting and decals to become Snowman's truck from Smokey and the Bandit. There are also a bunch of D&RGW GP40-2s that need Mars lights added to their noses, Tyco 4-6-0s that need repainting, a 4X6 layout that needs to be sceneked, GP30s that need nose lights....... Have a great weekend!
A few shots from last weekends 10th annual Train Days event in Los Altos, California. This was held at the Los Altos History Museum. Peninsula Ntrak had a 12 ft x 19 ft layout. Here the smiling faces of a few of the guys prior to starting operations on Sunday. 2018 Los Altos Train Days Ntrak layout by nscalestation posted Sep 18, 2018 at 8:34 AM We had some new modules in the layout. A pair of 1 ft wide modules done by Julia Jackson, a outdoor 3 ring circus scene and a greyhound bus station scene. 1 ft circus scene by Julia Jackson by nscalestation posted Sep 21, 2018 at 3:00 PM 1 ft bus station scene by Julia Jackson by nscalestation posted Sep 21, 2018 at 3:01 PM Not new but a first at this show was Joe Giacomini's 2 ft winter ice skating scene 2 ft ice skating scene by Joe Giacomini by nscalestation posted Sep 21, 2018 at 3:02 PM And my 4 ft module made a connection the AsiaNrail layout. A friend was getting rid of some stuff. I had the locomotive, but got the CSX Athearn 200 ton crane and boom car for a song.
I have had a Bachmann Spectrum 2-8-0 since the first run, and was at one point going to make it a Pacific Coast Railway loco. The Pacific Electric would lease steamers all the time from their parent road, the Southern Pacific. The PE also owned a handful of 0-6-0's, and these were the only Pacific Electric lettered steam locos. I decided today that needed to be changed. The real 2716 had a Vanderbilt tender.
Well, here's one project off the work bench. I just finished the Mountain Dew truck with the red cab. The green cab I did about a year ago.
