Hello, I'm in the process of sorting out the wiring for my new layout, and I aim to use LED street lighting and building lights via my Rokuhan controller and accessory switch. The A016 accessory module has five sockets on it, that I can plug 5 accessories, such as LEDs, into it, and if I need more, I'd have to buy more modules to extend it by. Now as I'm sure you're aware, the cost of importing so many of those things from Japan is prohibitive, and I realised that I could actually wire my own LEDs to plugs in this module, which would save considerably on cost, as I could wire groups of them in parallel on different circuit runs, to each plug. The only thing that's stopping me is that I don't know what type of plug connector it is that they use to fit the sockets on the accessory module. They look to be fairly common types of plug, as I've seen similar on my RC tank motherboards and other things, so they must be available to bulk buy fairly cheaply. Does anyone know what type of connector they use?
Research has so far led me to believe that the connections are JST 2-pin plugs. Can anyone confirm this please?
These may be JST-2, or they may be something similar. Looking at the only pictures I could find of the LEDs, there seems to be a different type of detente on them (somewhat arrow shaped) vs the straight in JST-2 Hopefully someone else with experience with these can answer definitively.
Thanks for that! The supplier of JST-2 plugs I've managed to source does them in a job-lot of 50 plugs attached to leads of 20cm (About 8 inches) and they come with JST-2 sockets, too. If necessary, I guess I can un-solder the Rokuhan sockets from the board and put the JST-2 sockets on there- unless I can trim the detentes on the plugs to fit. I'll await further confirmation before taking the plunge, though.
Well, I've ordered the accessory module, and can now confirm the plugs used are JST 2-pin plugs, 2.5mm. I've now ordered a batch for my lighting system.
Well the Rokuhan control unit for lighting has two sockets unit has two and the junction board has both a male and female end so they can be extended within a daisy chain. The supply is 10 vdc from the on off panel so resistors are needed for each LED to limit current and have them in the range of 10 to 15 to 20 ma USING various resistors,as I found THE bright white LED to be too strong in some locations and and I have limited my load to 300 ma per controller so after plugging in the Rokuhan building lights I created my street lighting and cars in groups of 5 and just hard wired them in parallel and after removing the daisy chain socket at the end of the junction bar and added them at this location. I have 20 street lights 29 building lights and 14 cars with head and tail lights and 5 obstruction lights on bridges and towers. All this connected to two on-off levers from Rokuhan snapped on the side on my two train controllers. I can even run this lighting and run a two trains over a two day show for 5 hours a day on 8 AAA batteries when AC is not available. If I have AC then I run my trains on DCC and one controller handles all the lighting. regards Garth

I've now managed to find some on ebay... https://www.ebay.com/itm/10Pairs-2P...206440?hash=item2394acc6e8:g:ikUAAOSwVNxZ5XGo they have sockets on one end and plugs on the other- it would only take a couple of seconds to cut the sockets off. I tested the fit of the JST-2 last night with the A016 module, and quickly wired up an LED to it to see if it would work- and it does, exceptionally well.
