Thanks David... One thing about videos...I see things that I say "Oh, I need to fix that...and that...and that..and...." LOL
The only thing that needed fixing is longer trains and maybe a a fast passenger consist. The layout may not be finished but it is a fun one to see, with all the little things like the caboose tracks etc. And I have to say I love the novelty of using the RV the best! Keep it up George, it is all good!
The smaller length trains...running slower...give the illusion the Layout is even bigger then it is already. Besides...10-12 cars will fit nicely on every track in the ladder of Lucky Penny Yard. I love switching up cars. My S2 gets quite a workout when I'm on Yard duty..LOL. As far as passenger trains...THE Wife has her excursion train parked at the train station in the "Jeans Valley 001" video. When she comes out to THERR RV to play with the trains...I park one of my frieght trains on the A/D track in the yard. She likes running her passenger train fast ! The caboose track...yea...I love that area of The Yard !
David... Payday is coming up on the 3rd...I'll let you know. I wrote a postit note and stapled it to my forehead
The next area we are going to be working on. This area was going to be a mobile home park. But once we realized how many Mobile homes we would need...and how much that would cost us...we pretty much gave up on the idea !
This area will now be horse riding stables or a horse boarding ranch. The coral fencing and barn will be a lot less expensive. We will be naming this area in memory of her mom who managed a horse boarding ranch in the northern part of Phoenix.
For future reference, there's a company out there who sells plans to make trailers and mobile homes from cardstock. A good search string in google would be "model n scale westfield trailer park". I've got a couple of pictures of one of theirs in my photo albums, printed, cut out and assembled. They're decent, especially for the price, and you can print and construct as many as you need.
We had looked at those....but they are 50's era trailers. We model more modern (1980's-present). Even in 2000 those old trailers would have been rust and dust. Not exactly what we wanted. We are renting a 14 wide mobile ourselves. It was built in 1994. This is the type we wanted to put in the MH park.....not travel trailers you pull with a car.
Only cold until I go out and start the RV and let the RV heater warm it up inside. I have the RV furnace still in there...but...I find a space heater keeps the temp nice once its warmed up in there....and saves on propane.
It still amazes me how well that turned out! Now for a custom railroad paint job on the RV....in the spring! I find that one cheap electric 'milkhouse heater' can keep my trainshed warm after the wood stove burns down overnight. When I go out in the morning to fire up the stove it usually is comfortably warm, even when it is -40! And it doesn't cost much to run, which is even better!
THE Horse Ranch It will be interesting to build these farm (ranch) outbuildings. I've had 3 surgeries on my left eye since February and I still cant see with the darned thing. This aceerage outside of Jeans Valley was originally slated to be a mobile home park (Trailerhood) but once the CFO (wife) found out how many mobile homes I needed to fill the park the land was abandoned. After 4 years of being vacant THE Wife and I decided we would make it a horse ranch in honor of her mother and grandmother who managed a horse ranch North of Phoenix for 20+ years. I still need corral fencing. I have some but going to need more. I bought 5 packages of fencing. Each was supposed to contain 300 feet of 3 rail fence...there is only about 192 feet per package. I called the etailer and they are going to notify the manufacturer. I plotted it out to be approx. 1600 n scale feet of 3 rail fence I need total!!
You could add this to that as well. It's shorter than the pictures make it appear, pave the road, add a plane and done! About 1/2 mile from me. http://www.airport-data.com/airport/7TX4/ Another link: https://virtualglobetrotting.com/map/hillcrest-airport-neighborhood-with-runway/view/google/
Yea we have a community airport about10 miles away. It runs right along a major road. It will scare the heck out of you if you're driving anywhere near it and a plane zooms right over you landing...LOL 34° 21' 8.3" N 109° 57' 57.2" W
