In the words of my friend when he first saw my layout. "Look at all the trains!" My best wishes to your mom for a quick recovery, too. Doug
A few more. Funny, some of these cars have been sitting for a long time and I had no idea there were so many that were derailed. Guess that's all due to moving and bumping while working around the room. Pictures don't hide things.
Great scenes, hope you can re-use a lot of it. I don't think I've seen many layouts that look so finished.
Thank you! I appreciate all the kind comments. Was looking for an old photo from work this morning and came across these pics from back when I started the layout back in 2009.
Really eye catching layout. good variety of industries making for interesting operations! Thanks for the pics, and hope every thing goes well with the parents. Jim
All the freight cars are off the layout now except for one train still sitting on the main. Looks so odd with just that one train and the engines in the terminal. I don't think I really realized just how many freight cars I have until now. Probably 10 years ago, I went through and sold off most of what I had that didn't really fit in with what I wanted to do. In looking at what I have now, I'd be hard pressed to find any I don't really want to keep or don't fit. Of course, there are the ones that don't fit but I want because they are really cool or that were gifts. Guess we all probably have this problem in one way or another. Building and vehicles will come off next. Those will require some extra special packing. Locos will be last as I want to try and make sure that they all get a few laps in before being put away. Mom is back home with 24 hour care now and getting better. Dad is coping I guess. The wife and I are making progress in getting our house ready to go on the market. Getting more real every day.
Best hopes for an easy move and transition. Be sure to clearly label each model railroad box with what's inside. I dismantled my pike in January and took a few extra minutes to mark each box and it's already paid dividends in planning my new railroad when I need to reclaim specific items, especially electrical components at this stage.
