This was in the shops this evening. They were moving it behind some of the armor yellow, so I grabbed the best shot I could from the car.
With good light (but not weather) conditions, glorious first light bathes the solid autorack blocks in East Minot in a golden glow. Amtrak #7 begins to ease on the throttle for an early arrival at the station. Canon T5, 55-250mm @250mm
Taken in 1996 I think, stacks move east on the transcon at West Defiance, NM. From a low-rez Kodachrome scan.
October 29, 2017 Hill582 Cajon, California. Its my version of fishing. Sit back relax and enjoy the vast scenery and good company.
Assortment of Huron and Eastern power tied up at Marlette, MI December 15th, 2013, shortly after the Genesee and Wyoming takeover of RailAmerica. Pictured are an ex-CORP unit, GP9 1721(ex MNN 1471, now scrapped), an ex Central Michigan unit, one of the first engines in the new G&W livery and one of the ex P&LE GP38-2's bought by HESR in 1993. I am told that at one time, HESR operated power in no less than 23 different predecessor/patchout schemes
This is former Milwaukee Road territory, the pole lines on the far side of the tracks were for the electrification, now owned by the state I believe, and the poles on this side were the code lines. Remnants.......
At last a southbound CP shot at Soo Tower in the sunlight! Even in low winter light, this shot better suits morning light. Ah, what are ya gonna do? This train had 3 lead units and 1 DPU. 3 head end units is somewhat uncommon for CP in this area.
While driving through Central Texas yesterday, I spotted an unusual "Guest House" on a ranch north of Rockdale.
This coal train was sitting here this morning in the icy haze. The second photo is of the dpu's at the rear.
Nearly 2 hours late, and running with a freight unit leader, Amtrak 8 must have suffered a failure along the line west of Minot. A very late Empire Builder splits the signals guarding Soo Tower. The dense fog and icy rails certainly didn't help the schedule. Canon T5, 18-55mm @ 53mm, f/32 61 sec Dense fog advisory? What do you do when it's foggy? If you're like me, you go shooting anyways! Eastbound doublestacks cross Gassman Coulee Trestle in the fog. Canon T5, 18-55mm @18mm f/11, 64 sec
Goes behind a place called Huttig Building Products off of 6th St NW. Still in use. Pic by Bill Edgar off of Railpictures, (hope I don't get in trouble for using this!), but this is the exact same spot, but the other side of the tracks, spur going off to the right lower....
