Okay, I'm hearing a lot of negative things about the U25C and the SW1.....I have a few and have yet to have any issues.......What gives?????
The SW1s need a little help to regauge the wheels. Drop a Zimo decoder in and it is one awesome running engine.
My SW1's are great........a friend has a couple of U25's and they run great, although the railings seem to fall off frequently.
Other than having to gauge the wheels I have no problems with my U25C or SW1. I still need a Zimo decoder for my SW1 though.
I have an SW1 and it runs nicely. It will accept 6 pin decoders...the TCS EUN651 is an option but in my experience, the Zimo MX622N has better motor control. There was a thread in the last year about different decoders in the SW1.
I forget which brand of decoder I've in the U25C. I'm guessing a Digitrax off the top of my head. It runs great. But I've read where the Zimo decoder is the best choice for the SW1 as well.
I tried the TCS and it doesn't work well with the motor the SW1 has. I moved the TCS to a FVM where it worked better. The Zimo is designed to work well with the SW1.
I have a SW1 and 4 U25C's and 4 U28C's. I've only installed decoders in about half. I really like these engines. Getting the shell off to install the decoder requires coupler removal which can be tricky but being forewarned should make that not a problem. I think they are nicely detailed and they run well. I have yet to get a decoder for the SW1 but all recommendations point to Zimo.
I have 2 U25s and a SW1 All run great and are very finely detailed. Some people just like to woo woo woo
