Managed to get a couple of cars done this week. Walther's Express Reefer kit, added all the grabs, painted with Scalecoat II Pullman Green and Black Paints, then lettered with Champ Decals. To be used on mail and express passenger trains. Car built in the 40's and 50's. Kadee just announced this car as coming later this year, but as I already had the decal I jumped in ahead of them. Kadee 50' PS1 Cushion Underframe kit, painted with Scalecoat II Black Paint and lettered with Herald King Decals. Car built in 1966 and repainted in the merger scheme in 1972. Thanks for looking! One more, taken a few years later and a bit further back....old box car still has not been fixed yet. John
When my daughter was a teenage schoolgirl her room was never that bad. Atrocious maybe, but not a "junkyard" like that.
Lovely scrap heap, outstanding creation as usual. BTW, our then 15 year-old son finally admitted to his mother that he had no clean clothes to wear, after she had allowed his room to achieve the status of your scrap heap over a two or three week period.
No shame... we have all gone through a shambles phase at one point or another. Then we become neat freaks when Mom comes around and threatens to do the work herself... her way! Neat freaks, of course, with a bit of magician thrown in to help make things disappear magically until something is opened... I will, however, study your scrap heap and use it as inspiration for mine on my layout in progress.
" I will, however, study your scrap heap and use it as inspiration for mine on my layout in progress. " I did play with it for a long time. I learned what not to do as well as what looks real. Ask me anything.
Excellent thread this week. Russell's and Jim's bridge shots are excellent. Rick's modeling is very crisp as usual- especially like the express reefer, and all I can say about John's two shots is that the swaybacked boxcar lends a very John Allen touch to photos that otherwise seem to have a very E.L. Moore feel to them. Very nostalgic on a couple of different levels. Outstanding! Wolf's engine terminal has yielded consistently nice photos and Candy's scrap pile would make my old boss (who was always in trouble with the township over his junkpile) proud. Seriously, well done and very nicely weathered. Great week everyone.
Railmix, Thanks for the nice comment. Question: Are you folks seeing this week's photo in a larger size than I am? I'm having trouble posting photos here and I'm running out of patience. I see this week's photo as a large thumbnail and not much more. I'm not computer literate enough for this I guess, and need some help posting in this thread. Signed frustrated in Santee, Jim
Jim, I also see it as a large thumbnail. Unfortunately I can't help you with the settings on your computer, or your Railimages album.
It may be that you are copying the URL location of the album thumbnail instead of the full image? I went to your album and clicked on the thumbnail to bring up this page where I was able to obtain the address for the full image and paste that into the post when I edited it.
Lookin great as usual everyone!! I've been in a lull since tearing down my ho scale modular pieces. I've been doing a bit of plywood railroading/experimenting with the Lamoille valley railroad, and realize that Alaska IS my true calling!! I'm leaning towards scaling it down to n scale because my Kenai mountains proved to be absurdly heavy! Hopefully by next weekend I can get back to modeling the Alaska rr!!
