Rare these days to find almost consecutive loco numbers in Cascade Green AND in original paint!! Today in Centralia, Wa.!!
The Alcos owned by BN were like hens teeth, even way back when they started. Likely all have been gone for decades.
Yes. They have been gone that long. The last ones I saw were stored in Vancouver and one C636 in Portland awaiting export. My comment was just wishful thinking. I miss the 567B chant of those old F and Geep units. And the very obvious varieties of car body styles.
I never thought I'd hear myself say this. We will miss those cascade green units, right along with the vomit bonnets. Santa Fe's Yellow and Blue, Silver and Red bonnets. Never mind the D&RGW aspen gold striped beauties, as well as the old SP bloody noses. I hate progress and I hate change. But it is what it is and can't be anything more or less then what it is. Huunh? Sorry, to see then slowly disappearing.
Now were talking, SD9, I think one of these will push the last GE towards the scrap-mans torch. Never got to run one but man were those things built to last, and last, and last..
....and the GP38 behind it, 2097. One of BN's very first locos in probably it's original paint!!! Even has the old school ACI panel behind the cab!
