I am getting back into model railroading after a 20 year absence. I just inherited a large collection of N scale locos and I guess now that I'm retired, it's time to put some track down! My experience was in HO back just as digital was coming out, so today's DCC rolling stock is a mystery to me. My new layout came with both a new Digitrax Zephyr system and a Bachman EZ Command. No idea what to do with them.

Welcome aboard! Lots of folks here with varying degrees of experience, so plenty of people to get advice from. Did you get documentation for the DCC systems? If not, a good first step might be to try contacting the manufacturers to get manuals (and yes, I know, real men don't read the instructions...)

Welcome Mainstreet, I was in a similar situation with no knowledge of DCC just last May...the fun of the technology helps you learn quick
