Just got my display case in the mail this morning. Now I have a place to properly display my trains. Most of them are Kato. My Central Vermont switcher is Atlas and my Christmas train is Life-Like. Some of these are from my old collection when I was 10ish. The case has precut rails for the trains to set in. I left the endcaps off for easy window removal. IMG_UP844.png IMG_UP8444.png IMG_maersk.jpg IMG_traincase.png

Great way you have it set up, so much better than away in boxes. Two questions: is that a layout taking shape underneath? (if so looks like you're off and running) And in the second picture, what is the little gizmo behind the observation car? Don't believe I've ever seen that one.

Unfortunately I dont have room for a full layout right now. That is just my "test track". The train behind the observation car is a little scratch building project I am working on. That is just a paper prototype. I am trying to build an N scale Zaamurets. It is a russian armoured train car built around 1916. The rest of the train is on the upper right corner on top of the case. I sent a 3d model I built to shapeways. Hopefully the level of detail will be enough for me, if not I will experiment with styrene. Here is a good blurb about it: http://www.g1886.com/zaamurets-orlik-armoured-train/
