A Closer Look At the Empire Gas Works This is a closer view of the Empire Gas Works gas tank. The structure was weathered with the Bragdon Weathering System. Before the weathering powders were brushed on, the gas tank was painted a grimy black and allowed to dry for 24 hours.

A Closeup View Of The Finished Scene; Retaining Wall & Oil Derricks The oil derrick on the left is a brass kit. The oil derrick on the right is a Laser Cut building kit. Both kits are very delicate and require careful construction. These oil derricks were on the "original" JJJ&E.

A Kato Mikado converted into a Southern Ms-4 Mikado using a GHQ detailing kit. This steamer is featured in a published article in the current July-August 2008 issue of N Scale Magazine. In this article I describe how to transform a generic Mikado into a Southern Ms-4 Mikado. This 2-8-2 has been completely detailed and weathered. There is also a Lok-Sound decoder and speaker in the tender.

An overhead closeup shows the detailed piping and gears on this PRR L1-s #780 Mikado. The side rods and drivers were blackened with Neolube # 2, A Lok-Sound decoder and speaker was placed in the tender. The sound decoder installation in the Kato Mikado was published in the July-August 2007 issue of N Scale Magazine. The Unitrack on the JJJ&E has been completely weathered and ballasted.
