What caused Amtrak #1 to lose 3 hours 40 minutes, and Amtrak #2 to lose 1 hour between HOS and SAS this morning?
Yeh, I was hoping he'd chime in. Betcha he's off on another of his (enviable) foamer trips. The Brazos River bridge has been open for almost a week. I wouldn't think a Slow Order across just the bridge would cause #1 to lose almost four hours. I'm wondering if a freight took to the cornfields, though I haven't seen anything on the media.
Could be a car-train scenario, with tracks blocked and necessary (train delaying) investigation afterward.
I am in Virginia right now. However as I reported on Sunday in the Rebuilding Thread , the Brazos River bridge is closed again so Amtrak has to detour again.
Thanks, I missed that post. Though I'm surprised the reroute would cause almost a four hour delay in one direction, but less than one hour in the other....? OTOH, I hope you enjoy whatever railfan enjoyment you are currently enjoying.
Don't know how much rail fanning that I will get in on this trip. Dealing with major medical issues concerning a brother-in-law.
It's not just Amtrak that gets rerouted. That's a busy mainline, and all those other trains also have to be rerouted to other routes that already have their regular traffic.
