I don't think this was on anybody's wish list: http://www.katousa.com/cgi-bin/dl/dl.pl?dl.mif,ONP-ChristmasTrain.June2016.pdf
Ohh…I thought you were talking about the new Amtrak "Southwest Limited" that was just announced. I've never been an Amtrak fan, but this one just might get me 'on board'.
Somebody mention Amtrak Southwest Limited. Wish I could have caught the "real" Santa Fe Super Chief, but one of my favorite photos is the Amtrak version in 1975 at Laguna on an Indian reservation in New Mexico. But not "pike sized."
Wife and I were discussing that too, maybe they will do an add on set of the other 2 cars at a later date. But she, the wife, is interested in getting it, mostly so she can run it at the annual holiday craft show.
Kato s massive Chicago influence at play here. That train doesn't scream Chrismas to me. Yellow and Red??!
Mesita, just like Kenneth says, a quarter mile east of Laguna Pueblo proper and on Laguna land... I really like these Kato releases...even though I won't be getting one, I like that Kato is doing these types of small trains. Bruce
I like it too, but this blows my mind, why kato, why, this dosent make sense, first off, not a ton of people model winter, or winter in Chicago, and I don't see the marketing sense behind this one.
It will be ready to run around the xmas tree this season - I guess. What sense has there been in ANY of their off the wall offerings over the years? Bizarre Xmas trains, loony Halloween and Zombie trains, or actual Toy Trains? Kind of wish they would redirect the capital toward more prototypical offerings.
This is an actual prototype train; not a fantasy train...so, it works as both, an actual prototype train, AND, a train that can be run around the Christmas tree. this Kato, not Micro Trains with the Christmas, Zombie, and Halloween trains...
Considering the color schemes and artwork that are on the 1 to 1 Japanese passenger trains I am supprised that something like this took them that long to introduce to the US market.
If you look on their Twitter on one of their top posts, they are wanting to import a wacky painted prototype Shinkansen!
Per the announcement, Kato is giving some of the profit to wrap this years and future train, since they are a Chicago company and this train runs by there office it makes sense.
