Here's the before shot of 3 of the Micro-Trains cars I started with. Goal was to create a small fleet of box cars for the Atlanta & St. Andrews Bay Railroad. And one more was added later to make 4. And the finished set one at a time. And all 4 as a group.
If so, I am sending out the prize (and the backlog of prizes) on Saturday....I have been working 70 hours a week for over a month
I started mine, but got sidetracked. I was also disappointed that last month's voting was lackluster, kind of thinking why go the effort if no one really notices. Final straw was seeing nscalestation's entry before I got back to mine. I'm not topping that, so i will work on them when I have time.
Last months challenge was odd and while interesting not enough to warrant having to go out and buy cars and transfers to do it. I was not going to use my current cars and I really don't have a use for patched cars. And truthfully it is hard to beat some of the main contributors with their excellent entries month after month.
I'm sorry if my in progress posts discouraged anyone from entering or continuing their projects, my intent was just the opposite. I have always been inspired and encouraged after seeing everyone else's progress.
I don't think you have anything to apologize for. Your work is excellent and does provide a great wealth of ideas and inspiration.
I believe the contest concept itself is a great idea. Some folks have legitimate life reasons to not be involved. But others?
I like this idea in the future. No discouragement here. I was being pulled in different directions, and just knew I didn't have the time to pull off what I wanted. You did an awesome job !
That's pretty much why I haven't played along in the last few months. Just too many irons in the fire right now. I think for the summer months, maybe you should try every other month? It might give a bit more time for folks to work on stuff if the contest would run for two months. But I always have time to stop by and check out the entries!
Perhaps suspend these until September? Then have one in that month, another in November, then skip to January after the Holidays?
That would be great, quarterly would give 3 months to really turn out something great. Like a full train set.
The month that I entered something, there was only a total of 25-30 votes. Kind of pathetic. Why put the effort into something when only a few seem to care?
