Instead of starting another garden Ho/oo thread, I will just add this here. Seems like Jules garden railway is still up and running with a whole new station rebuild. I like the upgrade with all the lights. If you want to skip to actual video, it starts about halfway through.
We recently had a German HO steam afternoon, courtesy of David from Reigate who brought an assortment of Fleischmann, Piko and other locos and rolling stock. We tried pairings of several different 2-10-0s and ran the Prussian P8. It was rather cold but great fun. The link to the video of the session is below these (low quality) screengrabs: The 6 minute video is here:
Hell YES! All that German steam is amazing. Must have been a nice day of running. I like that you can sit on the deck and watch trains. I never realized you even had a deck over there.
Another good example of - When Your Train Room isn't Big Enough for Your Trains… Poke a hole in the wall and get an extra 60 feet of mainline.
Spring is coming and I am itching to do some maintenance on my model railway. A quick shot of some British OO with smoke. No it's not mine, but I love the effect.
I was outside yesterday examining my baseboards. I have a lot to do, but it should be fun to get building again.
This guy is really going to town with some nice looking modern trains, DCC, and a lot of fancy track work.
I didn't realize Lego offered such a variety of products that allowed creation of such an elaborate system. It's obvious the creator is no slouch either...thanks.
When I was a kid I got yet another train set for christmas one year. But this one was different from all my ho scale trains. This came out in 1966. I think I got it around 1968 or 69. They also made a lot of cool accessories for those old battery operated trains. I had these manual semaphores that when you lowered the signal flag, a train would stop at the signal.
Geeky, That was a neat run with all the lights, etc. How long do the train batteries last running the train at full speed, plus the camera? The train appeared to be slowing near the end, though that could have been an illusion.
I really don't know much about the newer lego trains. I've always eyed them in the store, but prices being what they are I always save my money for model trains. But I do admire when someone makes something cool no matter what kind of train it is. I just searched for info on them. They seem to have an infrared controller which is pretty cool. I wonder how good that controller is, and if it could be cannibalized for use with model trains.
Ok who has space for a bridge this big in their layout room? http://www.oogardenrailway.co.uk/gallery/image/3863
It looks like Mick is up to running on his mainline now. He's even posted a long train eye view video. The DCC sound is a nice touch as well.
