I like to weather all my locos and stock to some degree, but I have two Santa Fe locomotives I so far have not weathered, I really love this classic paint scheme so cannot bring myself to dirty them too much, so a little light road grime will be added eventually. Santa Fe kept their locos pretty clean anyway. It is a fact than non-weathered stock does not look realistic, as they gather dirt even after one trip on the road. Keep up the good work - and yes, this is the place to be, especially now the HO forum is buzzing!
For those following my progress on the display bridge I'm doing for work. Here are the 2 abutments. I even still have all my fingers!!!
We have a bridge, some what short but I am working on the center pier to support both spans. The rule is 6 feet. The total length will be 16 feet.
Some pictures of the work bridge. If these are boring, let me know and I'll quit posting the. It measures out to just over 16 feet.
Thanks Tom, it will really look like something when I get the center mast up for the cables. I should be starting on the mast in a few days.
We did the EasternFlyer Christmas Train last night at Bristow OK to the North Pole and back. Here are the 2 youngest members of our group. This is Gunners second train ride and Emily's first.
Well, my project is just about wrapped up. I take it out to the trade show next week. This is a replica of a cable stay bridge. It is 16 feet long and the tower is a little over 8 feet tall. It features the products we sell for bridge repair. When I get back I will start the relocation of the POCR to formerly what we called the boys man cave. I will start posting pictures of my progress soon. So here is the cable stay bridge.
Thank you guys. It has been an epic project. I took it down today in preparation of packing it for the move. I am so glad to be done with it! I did have fun doing it though, well all except that little trip to the ER back in October.... I wonder if I can really make them believe I had to go to Vegas on I-70......
I think it's exceptionally neat that someone is modeling the Port of Catoosa. If you want a source of visual interest, either as a very challenging piece of scenery or as a theme for a backdrop, the Delta Queen has visited the port from time to time. And that would not only be very scenic, but it would allow you to display a little steam--even though your prototype first began operations in the 1970s. It would also give you an excuse to play a recording of a calliope tooting the Rogers and Hammerstein classic Oklahoma! Now, I confess that I personally never really felt a strong enough temptation to play a recording of calliope music to go looking for an excuse to do it. But, you know, I thought I'd throw it out there just in case...

Well if the Delta Queen ever sails back to the Port of Catoosa, think twice before you go. Hearing it in person sticks with you for years.
