fitz - The cloudy skies and steam escaping make that a beautiful shot! The details of the running gear stand out nicely. And I'll bet she sounded even better! Mike - Alco!!
No amount of planning replaces Dumb Luck. Just remember, my friend, To Err Is Human, To Really Screw Up Takes A Computer.
Ken Yes the PA in Daylight was in the Portland area. I like the daylight paint instead of the red and grey
Another beautiful PA! Yes, the Daylight scheme looks much better than the bloody nose.., Nice GP9s, too. I also agree that the old scheme was better.
I found the builder's photo of the museum's RS2 - baby pictures! That old beast was built in 1949. The photo is from my copy of the Illustrated Treasury of the MLW.
No idea for now. It being a B&W photo, and possibly taken with a filter, even the constrast may be suspect. Here's a site on TrainWeb that shows a few schemes (in color) used over the years, including one that has the same lines but the contrast seems to be inverted. I can't think of a filter that would produce that effect on the B&W photo.
True to form, the weather service messed up the forecast and instead of the rain holding off until this evening, it started in the morning. It rained the whole time I was there.
