Wow , the new site takes some getting used to but works fine. Every time I have come here lately I walk away seeing question marks! LOL Please update those avatars guys. Thanks so much , Mike You all are the best!
Putting an avatar up is really simple now. TB has there supply >>>http://www.trainboard.com/highball/index.php?media/albums/avatars.3036/ You can even use a photo thats on your computer !!!! Just left click on your name....click on 'Avatar' and click to browse for you from your PC. Charlie suggests 200x200 for pics. I loaded a larger pic and the program cropped it to 'square it up'. But it loaded fine No excuses for "?" in the avatars
Yeah, it must've taken me all of ten minutes to create my new one - could have used TBs, but this was easy-peasy.
Avatar image suggestions: Pick a square avatar image or put an unsquare image in a (not white) square frame, if you're able. The system will make a square image out of whatever you upload, but perhaps not the way you expect. Click on poster's avatars and you get a larger example of it. There you can see how the (current) avatars were altered for Calzephyr and randgust. The system will also expand images smaller than 96x96 pxl to fill the available space. Larger image sizes than 120x120 pxl are accepted and encouraged. These will remain brighter and focused. Uploaded avatar images smaller than 96x96 pxl may end up fuzzy/unfocused. PNG format works well for avatars and is accepted by the system. You might try GIFs also. JPGs get darker and muddier every time they get copied so prefer a larger size JPG (300x300 pxl??) for an avatar, if you don't have the ability to covert formats. Post any problems/questions in this thread.
Yes. And I believe that is the suggested minimum for this software. Not sure what maximum is, but am recalling seeing something like 200 by 200 in something in something I was reading, a couple of days back.
My submitted image was slightly over 300x300 pxl as a PNG and didn't take any time to load. 200x200 would still give a clean image. I respectfully recommend that you upload yours from a larger size, if you've still got it. It's gotten muddy in the recopying of a copy, I'm pretty sure.
Okay, I've brightened and sharpened the image. Wanna try it? EDIT: If it gets muddy again, I'll email you the image as a PNG.
