Here sits the only steam on my layout. In the background is the “Humboldt Co. RR Museum” and the “Lost Coast Model RR Club” And then there is this.
S-2 crossing Idgits Creek: http://youtu.be/kcylHvrfZbY This is an oldie but its my favorite loco on the layout. A kato/c.c. s-2. I usually have only Milwaukee, but because of some weather problems up north, GN got to use the track for a bit. At a premium too!
Ignore the old date stamp on this, I took the photograph at a much later date than shown. Something just ain't quite right with GF's digital camera.
I'm not a big steem runner but I do have 3 units. 2 hand me downs that need to be torn apart cleaned and maybe decoderized, and my first N scale loco that is too small to convert. Sadly they are all "roundhouse queens" at present. http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/showphoto.php/photo/101738/title/shelf-queen/cat/511 http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/showphoto.php/photo/101740/title/1st-generation-puller/cat/511 http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/showphoto.php/photo/101736/title/aurora-donkey-engine/cat/511 Brian
This reminds me- I do have a steam engine! My first ever, an old Bachmann 0-4-0 "Docksider" which would never run, as the running gear would constantly bind up.
I can see the Aurora being pretty near impossible to convert, but the other two shouldn't be too much trouble. Might even keep your sanity if you're lucky! Sent from the magical mystery box
I've always loved this photo of your layout John. I can't remember if this model is a heavily modified Micro-Ace 0-6-6-0 or something else. It looks fantastic on that trestle.
This topic inspired me to take "portraits of my locomotives before I pack them for a pending move. 2-8-4 2-8-4 EM-1 EM-1
Bachmann 4-8-2 B&O Heavy - This is one of my favorite locomotives, unfortunately, it is one that Bachmann no longer offers. None of their current steam locomotives comes with a Vanderbilt tender. Light
Yes, that is a Micro-Ace 0-6-6-0. The dimensions were very close to the D&SL locos that the Rio Grande took over. Here is another photo,
