Walthers- LifeLike Proto GP18s, both high and low-nose. They also had GP7s and GP9s, and based on personal experience they run well.[/QUOTE] I second Bob's comment. I have a GP18, GP9& GP7 (RI), P2Ks. This was before Walthers. They run well, sound good w/o blowing out your eardrums.
Whenever one of us N scalers moves on to HO, the pessimist in me says, "Dang, we're losing." But the optimist in me says, "WOO-HOO!!! SOMEONE'S GONNA BE SELLING OFF THEIR TRAINS!!!"
Which is exactly what I'm in the process of doing. Unlike Paul, I didn't cap myself on the number of engines when I probably should have Up to 78 already and half are Sound equipped... the latest being the Athearn GP15T in CSX YN3 colors. Brian
I am betting Paul will exceed his cap, but maybe not up to 78! Sent from my Samsung Galaxy SII using Tapatalk 2
Is that 78 locos in HO? Well I think 10 was probably a little too restrictive lol but I won't be going too crazy with it.
Who makes the best corn syrup tank cars? Also what cars would a brewery normally use? boxcars for materials in and beer out, tank cars? and of course hoppers for barley, wheat etc
I got my NCE PowerCab set last year when I took my dip into the digital pool. I've been running my meager DCC fleet testing out the system, and I dare say I'm impressed. With the siz of layout I'm building, one cab should work for me, but I hope to expand down the road. You won't regret your purchase.
Ummm, yea.... hangs head in shame... I get a little carried away because I tend to buy in pairs and well, CSX seems to have just about everything on the roster, so I've got to have one of course. Then there are those that just look cool....and I have to get.... I'm seeing a pattern here... oh, look shiney object... Brian
My N scale layout has now been listed on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200910809258
It is such a good looking layout, I hope someone buys and removes in sections to be reassembled and operated largely as it is. Rather more preferable than just salvaging trackage, structures, etc.
The thing is it was never designed to be moved however some of the yard areas could be removed easily
Received my GP15 from ¤¤¤¤¤s today unfortunately the rear railing was broken, have emailed them not sure what will happen
That stinks. One of the major disadvantages of having stuff shipped multiple times and over long distances. I'd actually email Athearn and see if they have parts available that they can send (hopefully for free instead of sending the engine back...). Might get further with them since it's still be under warranty. I've heard they are pretty responsive. Brian
ok here is what i have bought so far 2 X GP38-2 Mopacs 1 X GP15-1 UPY 44 assorted cars 2 x GP9 on order 1 X transfer caboose on order
Your trackplan is very intresting. I like it, lots of switching. Locomotives! I think I probably have a few too many, but I'm always looking. I think my fleet of Alcos for the Logan Valley is ebough for th emain line traffic, and I do have a couple sitting in boxea (switchers) that have to be painted and lettered, but 78 locomotives ?? Is your layout in a barn with miles and miles of mainline ?? Wow.
