Any chance Kato will do all 20 in N Scale? http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=402338 http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=402394&nseq=5
I don't know about Kato, but Fox Valley Models has the first 7, 8098 Conrail, 8099 Southern, 8100 Nickel Plate Road, 8101 Central of Georgia, 8102 Pennsylvania, 8103 Norfolk & Western, & 8104 Lehigh Valley due the 4th quarter of this year. These are all GE ES44AC locos.
Darn you, Norfolk Southern!!! I am here, not modeling any of these roads, this geographical area, or even this era, but you made so many cool Heritage units here that I may not be able to help myself in collecting at least a few of them. You're in it with FVM, to separate me from the contents of my wallet. I just know it!
Outstanding Project. Thank you to the NS. As for the models I'll be in for the PRR, PC, Erie, DL&W and Conrail
Kato needs to update their tooling before doing them, FVM made the effort to do the high mount headlights and numberboards, I'm sure Kato can add the seam for the isolated cab and the new inverter cabinet blower duct (and that shell can then be used to produce those fabled UP and BNSF Western road units...with a low mount headlight version). Trust me, I'd bounce off the walls if I could get all 20, I'm just bouncing off the floor thanks to the 10 GEVOs FVM is doing.
Me too, I am good for most of them if they were available down here in ole South Florida. As my income allows, I might go get them from a box house offering them at a good price. Prefer Kato, because to me it is a KNOWN entity in diesels. I have the UP SoPac and George Bush 4141, and they are beautiful. Keep 'em coming!!!! Recession beaters, every one!!!!! Well, as this NS' policy follows what UP set a few years ago, why not imagining all other Class 1 RR doing the same in a close future, including BNSF doing that with ATSF, BN, CB&Q, GN and others? Dom
Good that FVM is doing the NS cab but the model still has the wrong narrow handrails and early long hood with two vent DB brakes. If and that a big if Kato does them they will used the same tooling and they will still sell.
Well if you model BNSF, keep in mind that NS power heads west pretty frequently, sooooooo.... (draw your own conclusion here )
It took me long enough to collect up Kato's UP heritage units, but another 20 NS units...sadly not going to happen (
Sell those unrealistic UP ones and start collecting the real NS ones! BTW, something tells me we'll be getting the ACes from FVM too, with the correct rear ditchlights...
Well now I think we will get the announcement for Aces when the HO guys like MTH and Athearn announce their HO versions, hopefully their were some reps at Spencer from some model makers taking some notes on the units.
Hmmm.... on the FVM FB page they said "The GEVO series was not designed for rear ditch lights. There will be other locos very soon that are though......." Could a new not-Kato ACe be coming?!
